If you own an Apple device and have lots of credit cards in your wallet, this article will show you how to easily transfer that money to one place and continue paying via Apple Pay.

How Does Apple Pay Work?

Before we dive into the details regarding Apple Pay, we should explain how this feature actually works.

As mentioned, the whole idea behind Apple Pay is based on making payments without having to carry your physical wallet with you. This Apple feature depends on another iPhone app called Wallet.

Wallet, which was once called Passbook, is an iPhone app that represents your digital wallet. So, you can add all of your credit and debit cards into this incredibly easy to use digital wallet. On top of that, you can also add and manage different coupons, movie tickets, reward cards, boarding passes, and much more, via the app.

Since Wallet is a “must” if you want to use the Apple Pay feature, make sure to set it up first.

The following sections will explain how you can add your credit cards to your Wallet. Depending on the Apple device that you have, choose the appropriate tutorial.

Setting up the Wallet App on iPhone

Setting up this app is quite simple. The following steps will show you everything you need to know:

  1. Open your Wallet app on your Apple device.
  2. Tap on Add Credit or Debit Card if this is your first time adding credit cards to Wallet (in case you have used this app before, tap on the plus button to add a new credit or debit card).

  3. Tap on Next, which is located in the upper-right corner of your screen.

To complete the setup you will have to agree to the Terms and Conditions and also complete the verification. You can choose the Complete Verification Later option, but it is advised that you verify your cards as soon as possible because you won’t be able to use them otherwise.

Setting up the Wallet App on iPad

In case you want to use Apple Pay on your iPad device, here is how you can set up your Wallet app:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Wallet and Apple Pay.
  3. Tap on Add Card.
  4. Enter your credit card details and other requested information in appropriate fields.
  5. Tap on Next.

After that, your bank or credit card issuer(s) will have to verify the information that you have entered. Once the verification process is completed, you will be able to use Apple Pay.

Setting up the Wallet App on Apple Watch

To add a credit card to the Wallet app on your Apple Watch, you need to:

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to the My Watch tab.
  3. Choose the watch that you want to set Apple Pay on.
  4. Tap on Wallet and Apple Pay.
  5. Tap on Add Card.
  6. Follow the steps and enter the correct information.
  7. Tap Next.

Just like in previous cases, you will now have to wait for your credit card issuers to verify your entered information. In case the verification process is successful, you will be able to use Apple Pay.

Setting up the Wallet App on Mac

If you want to add a card to the Wallet app and use the Apple Pay feature on Mac, you must own a model with a Touch ID.

Here is how you can add a card to Wallet on your Mac:

  1. Go to System Preferences.
  2. Select Wallet and Apple Pay.
  3. Tap on Add Card.
  4. Enter the required information.
  5. Tap on Next.

You’ll have to wait for the bank or credit card issuer to confirm the info you provided.

Now that you have finally added your credit cards to the Wallet app on your Apple device, you can begin purchasing using the Apple Pay feature.

To pay in stores, you will need to use your iPhone or Apple Watch device.

If you want to pay within apps, you can use your iPhone, iPad or your Apple Watch.

In case you want to pay on the web using Safari, you can choose Mac and all the above.
