How To Adjust Screen Timeout On Samsung Galaxy S9

For those that own the new Galaxy S9, you may want to know how to set screen timeout. You can set a timer for the phone to time out and shut off your screen using the steps below.

How to Set the Screen Timeout on Galaxy S9

  • Go to the Home screen
  • Navigate to Settings
  • Tap on the Display Menu
  • Select the screen timeout panel. Choose from these options:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes

How to Control the Smart Stay Function

  • Launch the Settings app
  • Access the display settings
  • Click on Smart Stay

This particular feature will automatically enhance the luminosity on your eye when pointed at the screen. However, the light will dim when you look away so that you can save the battery.

How to Disable the Screen Timeout

  • Navigate to settings
  • Tap on About Phone
  • Unlock the developer mode by tapping the Build Number button 7 times
  • Go back to Settings after you’ve unlocked developer mode
  • You will see that the Developer Options just showed up on the menu
  • Tap on it and activate Stay Awake option

This method is the best control option you have at hand because you cannot completely disable the screen timeout, but you can set your device so that it does not turn the screen off while it is being plugged in.
