How to Fix AirPods Only Playing in One Ear
There are many reasons why your AirPods might play in just one of your ears. It can be software related when your device is too far away, or the AirPods aren’t connected as they should be. This problem can be hardware related too, there is plenty of reasons for it.

Check if Your AirPods Are Charged
The first thing you should check is if your AirPods are charged properly. One of them might be low on battery, thus it stopped working. This is the best possible scenario because you can fix it right away. Simply place the AirPods in their case and charge them with the Lightning cable.
Once they are charged, play something and see what happens. If the problem persists and you only have sound in one ear, try the next solution.
Clean Your AirPods
People often neglect the hygiene of their AirPods, which can cause problems. Make sure both AirPods are cleaned thoroughly. It sounds silly, but if they are full of ear wax, they won’t work. Either the volume will be lower or they will completely stop working.

- Look at the letters L and R. Put the slider straight in the middle, it should give the perfect 50-50 balance.
- Turn off Mono Audio located above.
Here is how to check the stereo balance on Mac:
- Go to System Preferences.
- Choose Sounds and click on Output.
- Choose your AirPods in this menu.
- Put the slider exactly in the center between L and R if it already isn’t.
- Scroll down to Audio and make sure Mono Audio is off.
Check Your Device
Maybe your device is to blame, and not the AirPods. Plug in another pair of Bluetooth headphones and see if you encounter the same problem. In case you do, the fault lies in your device and the AirPods are fine.
