The Best No-WiFi Offline Racing Games for Android

There are times when we either don’t have access to a network, have no data left or don’t want to connect to play. I know I do. During those times, it’s useful to have a game or app that doesn’t require a connection where you can play as you want in peace. I’m big into racing games and that’s what this page is all about, a list of the best no-WiFi racing games for Android you can play without any kind of connection.

Asphalt 8: Airborne

Asphalt 8: Airborne is part of a long running series of racing games from Gameloft. There is currently an Asphalt 9 but it seems to have a few issues right now so Asphalt 8: Airborne is the one I’m recommending. The pace is excellent, controls are intuitive and responsive and delivers everything you want from a mobile game.

The UI is simple and easy to navigate and cars are respectably detailed given the screen size. I like some of the tracks, especially desert and city tracks and there is a lot to unlock as you progress. You can connect and play against others or play on your own depending on your needs. The app is free, contains ads and in-app purchases.

GT Racing 2: The Real Car Exp

GT Racing 2: The Real Car Exp is another no-WiFi racing game for Android from Gameloft. This is all about GT cars and track racing and has over a thousand different races and events to compete in. It is also part offline for those times when you don’t want or have a connection.

The layout and UI is similar, as is the modeling and environment. The actions is as smooth and tracks and cars as detailed. There seem to be fewer cars to choose from, 71 apparently but that doesn’t detract from the action. The app is free, contains ads and in-app purchases.

Traffic Racer

Traffic Racer has a different feel to it than Asphalt or GT Racing 2. It’s a fully 3D racing game that’s a combination of old style arcade and up to date racer. The combination is compelling. Action is well paced and responsive and the controls are intuitive and work well. You can race online or offline and gain points and unlocks either way.

The UI is very simple with small data sections inside the main screen so as not to detract attention. There is progression and car unlocks and the game actually rewards you for driving as fast as possible. The app is free, contains ads and in-app purchases.

Real Racing 3

Real Racing 3 from Electronic Arts is a big hitter in terms of gameplay and development. It has been around for a while but is steadily updated with new unlocks, tracks and improvements. This is track racing of the Gran Turismo kind with over 200 real cars, dozens of tracks and lots and lots of action. The game has apparently been downloaded over 5 million times. That’s how popular it is.

The interface and graphics are excellent and will push your phone to its limits in terms of performance. You are rewarded with a great game that you can play online against others or offline against the AI. The app is free, contains ads and in-app purchases.

CSR Racing 2

CSR Racing 2 from NaturalMotionGames Ltd. is a drag racing game. It’s a story-driven game similar to Need for Speed where you start at the bottom and prove yourself over races and different cars to become a pro. You get to buy, restore and customize a variety of cars and race them across the city against the AI or other players. The game is very compelling and while the story is the same old trope, the game is good enough to completely overlook that.

The graphics, controls and gameplay are all very well done. Action is well paced, controls very responsive and the cars and tracks are modeled well. If you’re into classic cars, this game is particularly good. The app is free, contains ads and in-app purchases.

Crazy for Speed

It is plain from the off that Crazy for Speed is inspired by Need for Speed but I think that’s a good thing. It is very similar in terms of character and style but holds its own as a no-WiFi racing game for Android. You can play connected against other players but you can also play offline against AI.

The controls and graphics are very good and the physics are some of the best in a mobile racing game. There are car and track unlocks, lots of events to compete in, a career mode and customization options too. The app is free, contains ads and in-app purchases.

These are what I think are some of the best no-WiFi racing games for Android. Each has great graphics, compelling gameplay, responsive controls and are suitably addictive. Got any others to suggest? Tell us about them below if you do!
