The Best Snapchat Alternatives

Snapchat Alternatives

Snapchat is an excellent and fun app. You can take photos, send videos, chat with other users, add stickers and text to snaps and messages, and make stories to share. It’s also a great networking and social media application, but maybe you’re ready to delete it and move on.

If you are looking for something else that’s available across platforms and devices, you may want to consider some alternative applications. We’ve found some that you may like.

Let’s take a gander at some Snapchat alternatives, shall we?

Telegram                                                                                   Telegram

This little gem—Telegram—has been around for a couple of years now. It’s always getting more features and improvements. The other great thing about the Telegram application is you don’t have to become tethered to a particular platform or device.

Telegram is available for iOS, Android, Windows phones, the Web, PC, Mac, and Linux. It’s completely accessible across platforms and devices—which is great, because you can either be on your computer or use your mobile device, you have options.  Telegram Devices

What can Telegram do for you? You can chat across devices and platforms, create groups for up to five thousand people, send pictures, documents, video, and much more. You can also set your messages to get deleted with a custom set timer. It’s a more secure and private kind of app, if you’re not into the whole world knowing your business. Telegram uses encryption to keep your messages and everything else safe from being hacked.

The Telegram application is seriously worth a look when you want an alternative to Snapchat that leans a bit more toward privacy, but is still a very social app.

Wickr Messenger                                                                   wickr messenger

Wickr messenger allows you to text and send videos, sound clips, and files across iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux. (Another application that allows you more freedom with your choice of device and operation system preferences.) Keep your chats private, or create a group chat with your family and friends.

You can send videos and photos, and also set an expiration date for your shared content. If you’re on the move, then simply send someone or a group of people an audio message when your hands aren’t free to type. Need to share a file from your device, computer, or something stored in the cloud? Go ahead—it’s secure, private, and the Wickr application removes any metadata.  wickr features

Wickr gives you more control of your privacy—like the Telegram application—and is a top contender as a Snapchat alternative.

ooVoo                                                                                         ooVoovideo

The ooVoo application lets you place free video calls, text your friends and contacts, as well as send voice messages.  You can chat your friends as different emoji such as a pile of poop—we don’t know why, but you can. Perhaps you’re feeling silly. There are also different trending avatar icons you can select from the ooVoo Store.                                      ooVoo avatars

While texting or in chat mode, you can add stickers, photos, or video—just like you can with Snapchat, Telegram, and Wickr. ooVoo doesn’t have stories and doesn’t support group chats, that we are aware of. But it’s a pretty nifty application for video calling and texting anyone, anywhere for free.

So, it’s definitely a contender for chat, video, and texting, and the most private as far as social media use goes. It’s more of a one-on-one chat and text app, but you can have up to twelve people on a video call at a time. ooVoo is also available on the largest selection of devices.

That’s a wrap! These are our three top choices for top Snapchat alternatives; we hope you’ve enjoyed our list of options. Let us know if you’ve got a Snapchat alternative we haven’t listed.
