Airpods Battery Life

Before we get into details, here are some basic things you should know about your Airpods. You have a total of five hours of listening time on all Airpods. Regular Airpods have two hours of talk time, but the 2nd gen have three hours instead.

With just fifteen minutes of charging, you get almost three hours of listening time or an hour of talk time. This is thanks to the efficiency of the Airpods charging cases.

While using your Airpods, you’ll receive a warning when the battery is getting low, and another warning when they’re about to shut down. These sound queues are great but they’re not the best way of checking your Airpod’s battery life.

Check If Airpods Are Charged on iPhone

There are various ways you can check the battery life of your Airpods, but you’ll most likely use your iPhone to do it. Many people already know this method, but let’s cover it for those who don’t.

You need to place your Airpods inside the charging case and keep it near your iPhone. Soon you’ll be able to see the charging percentage on your iPhone screen. If you take one Airpod out of the charging case, you’ll see the individual charging percentage of the remaining AIrpod.

Alternatively, you can use the Batteries widget on your iPhone (or another iOS device). To access this widget, swipe right on your locked screen, or your home screen when your device is unlocked. If you don’t have the Batteries widget installed, or you’ve deleted it for some reason, you can add it manually.

Swipe right on home screen and scroll all the way down in the widgets tab, and tap on Edit. Then find the Batteries widget and tap on the green plus icon to add it. Confirm the save with Done in the top-right corner of your screen.

Check If Airpods Are Charged on Apple Watch

Most people don’t know about this, but you can also use your Apple watch to check your Airpods battery life. Your Airpods can be connected directly to your watch, or only to your iPhone, it doesn’t matter.

Access the Control center on the Apple watch. You can press the bottom corner of the screen while browsing an app and drag the Control Center up. Alternatively, you can swipe up on the watch home screen.

On the Control Center screen, select the Apple watch battery option (percentage icon %). You’ll see the individual charging percentages of your individual Airpods as well as the charging case battery life. This method is very handy for those who sport the Apple watch.
