Does Bumble Notify the Other User When you Swipe Right?

Does Bumble notify the other user when you swipe right? How do you know when you match? Is it always women who get to make the first move? If you’re new to Bumble, TechJunkie has your back. This tutorial will answer these three questions and more.

Bumble is a very viable alternative to Tinder. It uses many of the same principles as it was designed by a former Tinder employee, but it goes one better. You still do the swipes, you still have profile cards and you still have the social anxiety that dating apps bring but only women can initiate conversation. It is this difference that makes Bumble different and better in many ways.

Does Bumble notify the other user when you swipe right?

The premise of Bumble is much the same as Tinder. You have your profile cards and you swipe left or right depending on your tastes. You swipe left to skip and right to match. There is also a tick icon you can use to like someone or a cross to skip them.

You both get a notification when a match occurs. If you’re male and a user of free Bumble, you will receive a notification and a blurred out image of the person who matched you. If you’re a subscriber, you will see the profile of the person but can do nothing else.

If you’re female, you have the same experience above but have the option to begin a chat.

How do you know when you match in Bumble?

When you both swipe right, you will see a Boom! Screen. Males will see the notification of a match but will not be able to do anything more. Female users will see the same screen but will also get the option to either Go To The Chat or Go Back to Bumble.

Females with matches get 24 hours to initiate conversation before it expires so even if you match, you may not hear anything for a day, or at all.

Is it always women who get to make the first move on Bumble?

Yes it is always females who get to make the first move. If a female matches with another female, either can make the move. If a female matches with a male, only the female can initiate conversation.

I think this is one of the strengths of the app. Anyone who has used Tinder for any length of time will not the general douchery that happens there. Most of that comes from younger male users. The intent for Bumble was to be different. To give more power to women. This encourages more female users because they know they have the power and won’t be bothered by idiots. It also encourages male users to up their dating game as they need to be hunted rather than being the hunter.

What happens if that 24 hours expires?

If you match on Bumble, the female has 24 hours to send a chat. As we all lead busy lives with a lot going on, it is too easy to forget and not chat when you meant to, so what happens to a chat if you don’t reply within that time limit?

Female users have two options. If the match is really special, you can extend it. Free users get one extension per day while Bumble Boost subscribers can do it as often as they like. You can only extend once though.

Once a chat expires, so does the match. The profile card will go back into the stack ready to be picked another time when you’re not so busy.

How can I organize my matches in Bumble?

If you’re fortunate enough to be successful on Bumble, you have to keep track of everything that’s going on. Your Match screen does that for you. At the top you have your matches. Those with a gold circle are recent matches that have happened within the past 24 hours. Those with a green ring are profiles who have swiped right on you but you have yet to reciprocate.

The Conversations list is your ongoing chats with matches. Here you can make sure you’re staying current with all your conversations.

Is Bumble Verification worth it?

Another way Bumble seeks to be different is by offering verified accounts. This minimizes the chances of being faked or catfished. If you see a small blue tick by a profile, it means their identity has been verified by Bumble. To become verified, you have to provide a pic of yourself to a moderator. They compare it to your profile pics to verify it is you.

Verification isn’t perfect and doesn’t verify age, name or anything like that but it is a move in the right direction. I think it is worth doing. Anything that makes you more attractive on a dating site is worth doing and being verified is attractive.
