Kindle Fire is a convenient device, pretty similar to an iPad or an Android tablet. You may use it to read books, watch YouTube videos, and download countless apps from the official app store.

However, there’s no app in the official store that allows you to download YouTube videos to your device. If you want to watch them, you can only do so online through the YouTube app.

Still, there’s a way to download a YouTube video downloader app from a third-party source, but you’ll have to enable this option first. If you want to know how to do it, keep reading this article.

Step 1: Enable Downloading Apps from Unknown Sources

Kindle Fire runs on a Fire OS which uses the same files and extensions as Android. This means that you can download an APK file (the executable file for Android) and install it on your tablet. It may not run as smoothly, but it will do the job.

Still, your system won’t allow you to download APK files from unknown sources. Especially since third-party files can be risky and sometimes infected with malware. But if you want to get that downloader, you’ll need to take your chances.

Here’s how to enable downloading apps from unknown sources:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the toolbar.
  2. Tap the “Settings” (gear icon) on the right side of the toolbar.
  3. Go to “Security.”
  4. Enable “Apps From Unknown Sources.”

This will allow the system to install APK files outside the official app store. Now, you just need to find the right downloader.

Step 2: Download a YouTube Downloader

If you search the internet for YouTube downloader apps, you’ll find plenty. However, a lot of them can have hidden malware or won’t work well on your Kindle Fire. To avoid any chances, you should get one of the several ‘tried and tested’ ones.

For example, you can download Videoder downloader directly to your Kindle Fire.

  1. Open the web browser on your Kindle Fire.
  2. Go to the Videoder download page.
  3. Tap the “Direct Download” button at the bottom of the page.
  4. Wait for the download to finish.
  5. Swipe down from the top on the Home screen to summon the notification bar.
  6. Tap the downloaded APK file.
  7. Tap “Install” when the dialog box appears.

Wait until the system installs the app. You should find the Videoder Downloader icon on the app list on your Home screen. Now, downloading YouTube videos is the only thing left.

Note: Videoder is a reliable YouTube downloader, but it’s not the only one. You can browse online for downloaders with a lot of positive reviews and find the one that suits you.

Step 3: Download YouTube Videos

Now that you have the necessary app, you can download the YouTube video easily. This article will guide you through the process using the Videoder app, but most of them follow a similar process.

  1. Launch the Videoder app.
  2. Tap the “Search” button at the top-left of the screen.
  3. Type the name of the video that you want to download.
When you start searching for a video, you should see an interface similar to the regular YouTube app. However, you may notice a small thunder icon below each video.
  4. Open the video that you want to download.
  5. Scroll down to the “Download Links” section.
  6. Choose the format in which you want to download the video (MP3, 3GP, MP4).
  7. Wait for the download to finish.

When downloaded, the video will launch automatically. Afterward, you can locate the downloaded video in your “Downloads” folder and the video/image gallery.

Be Careful with Third-Party Apps

You should always be 100% sure when downloading an APK from an unknown source. If you’re unsure whether the particular downloader is legit – avoid it. Untrusted APK files can be malicious and cause you various issues, from slowing down your system to data theft.

Also, when you finish downloading your APK file, it would be best to disable downloading apps from unknown sources (the first section of this article). Otherwise, you may accidentally download and launch a malicious APK when browsing the internet.
