EA Sports & Tiger Woods Part Ways on PGA Tour Video Game Series

After stepping away from its NCAA Football franchise due to mounting lawsuits, EA Sports is altering another popular video game title by dropping Tiger Woods from the company’s annual golf simulation. The reportedly mutual split ends a 15-year relationship between the firm and the championship golfer, one that spanned 16 games across a dozen platforms and weathered Woods’s off-course scandal in 2009.

EA Sports VP Daryl Holt was quick to reassure fans that, unlike NCAA Football, the company will continue to produce golf games under the PGA Tour brand. A screenshot of the next game in the series was teased, demonstrating notably improved graphics for “next gen” platforms. The company promises to have more details in the coming weeks.

The latest game in the series, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, was released on March 26, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
