Echo buds are a great way to listen to music or make calls entirely wirelessly. You’ve finally got them, and you can’t wait to try them out. But they’re not connecting to your device for no apparent reason.

Don’t despair because there are a couple of things you can do to solve the issue. Hopefully, one of these ideas will help you connect them to your Android or iOS device, and you’ll be able to enjoy the experience to the max.

What’s Causing the Issue?

Sometimes, it’s something as simple as a missing update, So, before you try anything else, go to Google Play Store or App Store and make sure your Alexa app is up to date. Also, check the battery on your buds because it may be running low and causing the buds to lose connection.

Of course, check your device to see if Bluetooth is on. Double-check the name of the device you’re pairing the Echo buds with because you might have chosen a wrong one the last time.

Connecting the Echo Buds

The devices should automatically connect when you open the Echo buds case. If you already have Alexa on your smartphone, make sure it’s active when you’re opening the case. If you do so, a prompt will appear on your phone’s screen. You only need to follow the instructions to pair the buds with your phone.

If this doesn’t happen, you may have to do it manually.

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  2. Launch Alexa.
  3. Open the case of your Echo Buds.
  4. Find a button under the lid. Hold it until a blue light starts flashing. The pairing mode is on.
  5. Take the buds out and put them in your ears.
  6. Open Settings in the Alexa app and tap Add device.
  7. Tap on Amazon Echo and then Echo Buds.
  8. The pairing request will appear in a pop-up window. Approve to continue.
  9. Complete the process by following the on-screen instructions.
  10. The pairing is complete when you hear a tone in your buds.

Echo Buds Losing Bluetooth Connection

You paired your Echo Buds successfully, but now they’re losing connection, and you can’t use them properly. Here’s what you can do.

  1. Leave the Alexa app for a couple of moments, and put the Echo buds into their case for half a minute.
  2. Enable the Airplane mode and leave it on for around a minute before turning it off.
  3. Restart your smartphone.
  4. Disable Bluetooth on the device and turn it on again after a minute.
  5. Now, unpair the Echo Buds from your device within the Alexa app.
  6. Unpair the buds and reset the settings to factory defaults. Then set them up again and pair them to the device.

To unpair the buds, do the following:

  1. Tap on the Alexa icon to open the app.
  2. Tap Devices to see the list of paired devices.
  3. Choose All Devices and go through the list to find Echo Buds.
  4. Tap Echo Buds and choose the Forget Device option.

  5. That will unpair Echo buds from your smartphone so you can now pair them again.

Restarting the Echo buds is done in two simple steps:

  1. Put them in the case they came in.
  2. Close it and wait for 30 seconds before you take them out again.

If this doesn’t work either and you still can’t connect them to your device, try resetting the buds to their factory settings. Here’s how:

  1. Unpair the buds from your phone, as we previously described.
  2. Put the buds in their case. Close it and find a button on the bottom. Press and hold it for 15 seconds.

  3. When the reset is complete, the LED will turn yellow.
  4. Perform the setup again and pair the Echo buds to the Alexa app and your phone.

My Echo Buds Are Connected, but Alexa Isn’t Responding

You’ve checked for potential updates and paired the buds to your smartphone. However, Alexa is still not responding to your voice commands. Try one of these things:

  1. Check if both Alexa and Echo buds are connected to the internet.
  2. Make sure the volume on your phone is high enough and adjust it if needed.
  3. Check the Echo buds settings within the Alexa app – you might have muted the microphone.
  4. Make sure that your phone’s Wi-Fi connection is working.

These are more or less the same steps you can take to check why music isn’t playing on the buds. One of the solutions should fix the issue.

Sometimes Simple Means the Best

In most cases, connectivity issues require a straightforward solution, such as restarting a device. Technology is not perfect, and temporary bugs may occur. However, you don’t need to be a tech wizard to solve the problem. One of the suggested ideas should do the trick.
