Essential PH1 Not Getting iMessages

Posted by Desmond Andrada on February 13, 2018

Most individuals who have used Apple devices prior to purchasing an Android devices may be wondering why they can’t receive iMessages on their devices. This similar problem has also been reported by Essential PH1 users who are also having trouble sending messages to other smartphone users. We would like to categorically state that iMessages is strictly meant for texts between iPhone users only and not between an iPhone and an Android or Windows smartphone user. It is worth mentioning this because of the many complaints that are being floated around concerning the messaging issues on Essential PH1 smartphone device.

On the other hand, you may still send a message to a non-Apple user from your Essential PH1. It isn’t an iMessage though. Therefore it won’t deliver. Now I know what you are thinking, ‘how does a non-Apple smartphone send an iMessage?’ This situation arises if you previously used your SIM on an iPhone device and failed to sign out of iMessages. In this case, your messages are still in iMessage format. Even though you switched operating systems, your SIM card is still in iMessage mode. If you forgot to disable iMessage previously, you can still fix the problem with this guide.

How To Fix Essential PH1 Not Receiving Text Messages:

  1. Eject your SIM from your Essential PH1 and insert it into the previous iPhone you were using.
  2. With the iPhone connected to a network, go to your Settings
  3. Look for the Message section and turn the iMessage option Off.
  4. This will fix the messaging error on your Essential PH1 smartphone

It is also possible that you don’t have your original iPhone there with you still. Well, if this might be the case, you will have to Deregister iMessage from the webpage and then turn off iMessage. From the bottom of the deregister iMessage page, select on the option that says, No Longer Have Your iPhone, then enter your region and phone number in the below right below the option above.  Tap on Send Code. Once you receive the code, enter it into the field option provided then tap on Submit.

Once you do this, you should be able to receive and send normal text messages regardless of OS.
