None of these worked for me. I either got errors stating a serious crash has occurred (SFCFIX 3.0) or it didn’t apply to my version of windows which is Windows 10 Pro insider preview Build 16199,rsprerelease.

If Windows update won’t work, get a new Ethernet cable. Hehe.

My one desktop PC would not update. I spent hours and hours trying to fix error codes 80072EE2 and 80072EFE and 0x80070005. I ran fix-it tools and trouble-shooters. I ran anti-virus and anti-malware and anti-malicious tools for days and nights. I was in the registry and in config.sys; I followed the instructions of the Geeks on Google to the letter. I played with the firewall and disabled or deleted anti-virus and deleted other applications. No matter what I tried, my pc would not run Windows update.

Then I changed the Ethernet cable from my pc to the router … and Voilà! Problem solved. My pc now runs Windows update.

If your Windows update won’t work, get a new Ethernet cable.

Nice work, thanks for info.
Fix 3 – Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX needs additional privileges – higher than admin successfully changed via RunAsTI command line
reg add “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX” /f /v “IsConvergedUpdateStackEnabled” /t REG_DWORD /d 0

Not sure whether it was fix 2 or 4 because I ran them both but the problem is now resolved on my Win 7 Home Pro laptop.
Mahir Taxwar says:
After the SFC scan, some corrupted files were found and those were fixed. So, I bypassed SFC Fix 3.0. In the Registry Edit Fix, when I run Wufix.reg, it says, “Cannot import C:\Users\Mahir Tazwar\Desktop\wufix.reg: The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor.”
Hicks says:
Nice work, thanks for sharing. A true fix in the zip file at the end. Run as admin and follow each step in order. Some did not apply to my version of windows 7, I just skipped them, it promps you if the step is not applicable. Saved me a windows reinstall on my media center pc.

Thank You
