OS X Yosemite Flat Icons

Following the popularity of our OS X icon comparison between Mavericks and Yosemite, we wanted to call attention to the MacRumors forums, where intrepid OS X fans and designers are in the process of creating some great OS X Yosemite icons.

Flat OS X Icons

The 700-plus post thread, titled “Flat Icons,” features alternative icon designs from a number of designers, most in the flat style introduced by Apple in the OS X Yosemite developer betas. Going further than stock OS X icons, many users have created flat icon designs for third-party applications as well, including Skype, 1Password, Twitter, and the entire family of Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Developers with access to the Yosemite betas can use the third party icon sets to unify the look of their testing environment, while those still on Mavericks can swap out their default icons to get a taste of what Yosemite will bring this fall.
