Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus: How To Turn OFF Bixby

Samsung is offering its users all kinds of features and services. With Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, there are plenty of novelties, yet one thing stays the same – most of these additions can be easily enabled or disabled by users, depending on their needs and preferences. If you don’t really like the Bixby feature on your smartphone, you can shut it down.

In case you didn’t know, Bixby is the equivalent of Apple’s “Siri” and Google’s “Ok Google”. A virtual assistant that you can use with a wide range of vocal commands. Whether you want to be able to ask your Galaxy phone “What time is it in San Francisco” or not, you can play with this assistant or disable it from the same place. If you’d rather use Google’s virtual assistant instead of Bixby, read this guide on how to use “Ok Google” on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ Plus.

Steps to better controlling the Bixby on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus

How would you like to say out loud Hi Galaxy and watch your device waking up? Of course, this is just one vocal command you can activate and use, but you can use many other options. Moreover, you can easily launch the Bixby with a double-tap on the Home button. But some users don’t like this command because it often makes them launch the service by mistake.

Easily disable it from the Bixby settings:

It’s possible to disable Bixby using the home buttons. This means that Bixby won’t launch when using the home button on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. Follow the steps below to learn how to disable Bixby:

  1. Turn on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus.
  2. Press the home screen for several seconds.
  3. Then swipe left side and tap the toggle to turn off Bixby.
  4. Next go back to the home screen and you’ll be finished.

If you want to completely disable Bixby app on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus

For those that want to disable and turn off Bixby on Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus, you can do this by following the steps below:

  1. Turn on your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap on Applications.
  4. Select All Applications.
  5. Browse and tap on Bixby application.
  6. Select the Disable option, a new message will pop up saying “Disabling built-in apps, may cause errors in other apps” so, tap Disable.

And that’s all it takes to deactivate this feature from your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. It goes without saying that if you ever want to enable Bixby again, coming back here and hitting the Enable button is all you will have to do.
