Even before it hit the stores, the Google Pixel 3 generated a ton of buzz. Many users are impressed by its incredible performance and a variety of features that its predecessor didn’t have.

However, not all of that buzz has been good. There are a few issues that users have been reporting. One of the main ones was an issue with the stereo speakers. The sound would be distorted, and the speakers might not even work in some cases.

So why might this be happening? Did Google make a series of faulty Pixel 3s? Not likely. Usually, the issue has to do with Android glitches. This is great news, as it means you probably won’t have to replace your phone. Let’s take a look at what you can do.

Restart and Make Sound Adjustments

Let’s start with some quick fixes that have got the job done more times than you might think. Most minor Android bugs can be fixed by simply restarting the phone. The communication between software and hardware refreshes, which might just do the trick. To restart your device, simply hold the Power button and tap Restart.

If this didn’t do it, you might want to check the sound settings on your device.

To glance at the sound settings, just press one of the volume buttons. If you want to see all of them, tap the gear icon and you’ll see all your sound settings. Turn the volume up and see if anything changes.

Hold the Power
Long-press the Power off button, then tap Reboot to Safe Mode once the option appears.

This will disable all 3^rd party apps, so if any of them were causing sound issues, it should be resolved now. If that happens, exit Safe Mode and see if the sound is working. If not, you might have to remove some apps until you find the culprit.

Factory Reset Your Phone

If all else fails, the factory reset beckons. This gives you a fresh OS so all the bugs should go away. Here’s what to do:

Go to Settings > System > Advanced.
Tap Reset Options, then go to Erase all data (Factory reset).
Tap Reset Phone, then type in your password.
Tap Erase Everything.

This should only be done if you’ve had the problem for a long time and exhausted all your options.
