Huawei P9 – How to Change Language

The option to use another language on your Huawei P9 is a neat feature. It can come in handy if you are learning a foreign language. In addition, bilingual users can enjoy the benefits of having Android software in their preferred language.

Changing the Language on Your Huawei P9

Here is what you need to do to make the language changes:

1. Launch the Settings App

Hit the gear icon on your Home screen to enter settings and swipe down to Advanced Settings.

2. Tap the Advanced Settings

Select Language & Input from the Advanced Settings menu to get more actions.

3. Choose Language & Region

Tap Language & Region atop the Language & Input menu to reveal the language you’re currently using.

4. Hit Language

This action shows the list of all the languages you can use on your Huawei P9.

5. Select the Language You Want to Use

Browse the list and just tap the language you wish to switch to. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the choice. Hit Change and you’re done.

Note: It would be nice if Huawei P9 allowed you to add a few different languages to the list, but it doesn’t. Hopefully, there will be a future update to offer you this option.

How to Change the Huawei P9 Keyboard

It’s always nice to have a keyboard that matches your language preferences. This feature is particularly useful if you are learning a language that uses Cyrillic or other non-Latin fonts.

1. Go to Settings

Once you access the Settings app, swipe down to Advanced Settings and tap to open.

2. Select Language & Input

Select Default Keyboard under the Language & Input menu.

3. Select Input Method

A pop-up window appears allowing you to choose one of the keyboards on your phone. Tap on the preferred keyboard to make the selection. If you want to add another one, hit Configure Input Methods and choose from the list.

Tip: Switching between keyboards from any app that has one is super easy. Press and hold the spacebar to reveal the enabled keyboards and choose one from the pop-up menu.

Another Language Option You Should Know About

Like most other Android devices, the Huawei P9 features a predictive text option. This option usually works great with different variants of English, but it might not be configured to use with other languages.

If you want to use this feature, this is how to enable it:

1. Access Settings

Swipe down and tap Advanced Settings, then choose Language & Input.

2. Hit Huawei Swype

Select Settings when you enter the Swype menu and swipe to Next Word Prediction.

3. Toggle on the Button

Now you’ve enabled predictive text on your Huawei P9.
