iPhone 7 – Internet is Slow – What to Do

To say that a slow internet connection is frustrating would be an understatement, especially if it’s happening on a regular basis.

There are a few reasons why this might be happening. Thankfully, in most cases, you can identify it without too much hassle and fix it on your own. Let’s take a look at some of the most common causes and what you can do about them.

Clear Your Browser Data

One of the most common reasons for a slow browsing experience has nothing to do with the connection itself but the browser that you’re using. If there’s too much clutter and you haven’t cleared in a while, the browser can get terribly slow.

Here’s how to delete all your Safari browsing data:

  1. Go to Settings > Safari.
  2. Scroll down until you see the Clear History and Website Data
  3. Tap on it and confirm the deletion.

If you’re using Google Chrome, you can remove browsing data from within the app. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Chrome app
  2. Tap the three-dot button at the bottom-right corner of the screen, then go to History.
  3. Tap Clear Browsing Data and confirm the deletion.

This could speed up your browser by a lot if you haven’t done it in a while. If the problem persists, continue on to some of the following solutions.

Turn Airplane Mode On and Off

If you’re using your cellular network, turning the Airplane Mode on and off might help. You can find the shortcut in the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the screen.

Once you do, tap on the plane icon to turn Airplane Mode on, wait for a few seconds and then turn it off. This will refresh the network connection and potentially solve the problem.

You can do the same thing for Wi-Fi separately. Instead of turning on Airplane Mode, simply turn the Wi-Fi off and on to see whether something magically clicks into place.

Update Your Version of iOS

Each iOS update comes with improvements and bug fixes. Your iPhone will notify you when it’s time for an update, so make sure to use the latest software version. If you don’t get a notification, here’s how to check whether there’s an update available.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update
  2. If there’s an update available, you’ll get details about it, and you’ll see the Install Now option, provided that your battery level is above 50% or the phone is plugged into the charger.
  3. Tap the Install Now button, then let the phone update.

If the issue is software-related, this might fix it. Your iPhone will both restart and update, so software glitches would be removed in the process.

These are the most common solutions to slow connection issues. If none of this helps, you might want to contact your ISP to check whether the issue is on their end.

The worst-case scenario is a hardware-related connection issue. If this happens, contact Apple support and they’ll guide you through the possible options.
