Oppo A83 – How to Block Text Messages
Blocking text messages is an effective way to deal with spammers who fill up your inbox with irrelevant or disturbing messages. If you opt for this method, you will also stop receiving messages from groups you might have inadvertently signed up for.
There are a few ways to block text messages on your Oppo A83. Let’s take a look at the steps you need to take.
Blocking Text Messages from the Settings App
You can block all messages you don’t wish to receive from the Settings app. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Launch the Settings App
Swipe down to Call in the Settings app and tap to enter the menu.
2. Open Block Menu
Tap on the Block in the Call menu to enter all of the blocking options
3. Select Blacklist
The Blacklist option allows you to add all the numbers and contacts you wish to block text messages from. What’s more, you can also block messages from different groups within this menu.
4. Select Add
You should tap on Add at the bottom of the page to select the contacts you want to block. As explained above, there is also an option to block entire groups. This will help you deal with the disturbing chain texts you might be receiving.
Blocking SMS from Messages Menu
You can also deal with unwanted text messages from your smartphone’s Home screen. Here’s how to do it:
1. Swipe Left on the Home Screen
Tap on the Settings app to get inside the menu.
2. Choose Messages
Swipe down the Settings menu and then tap on Messages to open them.
3. Select Blacklist
In the Messages menu, tap on Blacklist and then tap on add to choose the contacts or numbers you wish to stop receiving text messages from. Simply find the contact you want to block and tap on it to add to the Blacklist.
How to Unblock Text Messages
If you decide that you want to start receiving messages from a contact again, you can easily unblock it. To unblock any of the contacts, you need to take the following steps:
Settings > Messages > Blacklist > Select the Contact
After you’ve selected the contact you wish to unblock, tap on Edit in the upper right corner of the screen.
When in the edit mode, you can remove any of the contacts from the Blacklist to start receiving messages from them again.
Third-Party Apps that Block Text Messages
The Google Play Store offers more than a few non-native apps that are very good at blocking text messages. You can find many decent free apps, but our recommendation is Block Call and Block SMS. This app is very easy to navigate and use, so you won’t have any problems setting it up.
When you launch the app, you will be asked to provide a password.
After you’ve done that, you can set up messaging restrictions and preview blocked threads.
The Final Message
It is very frustrating when your inbox fills up with unwanted messages. This is why you shouldn’t hesitate to block any unwanted contacts. And if you decide that one or more of the contacts don’t deserve to be blocked anymore, you can easily unblock them.
