Samsung Galaxy J5/J5 Prime – How to Change Wallpaper

Posted by Arch on

To make your Samsung Galaxy J5/J5 Prime stand out from the rest, you need to personalize it. One of the easiest ways to do this is to change the wallpaper every now and then. This popular smartphone allows you to set different wallpapers for your Home and Lock screen or to use the same wallpaper on both.

In this article, we’ll look at the three simplest ways to change the wallpaper on your Galaxy J5/J5 Prime.

Changing Wallpaper from the Home Screen

The fastest way to change the wallpaper is to do it directly from your Home screen.

Here is how you can do it:

Access the Wallpaper Menu

Tap on any empty area on your Home screen and hold for a few seconds, until the Home screen options menu appears. When it does, tap on the Wallpaper icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Choose the Screen

Here you have to choose the screen where you want your new wallpaper to appear. You can choose between the Home screen, the Lock screen, or set the same wallpaper to both screens at once.

Pick the Image

After you choose the screen, a carousel-style gallery of preinstalled wallpapers will appear at the bottom of the screen. These are stock wallpapers that come with the phone. If you want to choose one of your own photos or an image you downloaded from the internet, tap on From Gallery in the bottom left corner of the screen and select the image you want to use.

Set the Wallpaper

Once you’ve chosen the image, tap on Set as Wallpaper to complete the changes.

Changing Wallpaper from the Gallery App

If you want to change the wallpaper directly from the Gallery app, follow these steps:

Open Gallery

From the Home screen, tap on Apps and then choose Gallery.

Find the Photo You Want to Use

Browse your gallery to find the image you want to set as your new wallpaper. If you downloaded the image from the internet, you will likely find it in the Downloads subfolder. Similarly, if someone sent you the image via a messaging app, you are most likely to find it in the subfolder of the same name (e.g. WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.).

Set the Image as Wallpaper

Once you’ve found the image you were looking for, open it and tap on the More option in the top right corner of the screen. On some versions of Android, this option may appear as three dots.

Choose the Screen

Tap on the screen where you want your new wallpaper to appear. Again, you can choose between the Home screen, Lock screen, and both.

Confirm Your Choice

Tap on Set as Wallpaper to confirm your choice and exit the Wallpaper menu.

Setting a Rotating Wallpaper

Newer versions (2016+) of the Samsung Galaxy J5/J5 Prime also allow you to set a rotating wallpaper on your Lock screen. With this option, you can choose multiple images to create a wallpaper slide show of sorts. Each hour, a different image you choose will appear as the Lock screen wallpaper.

Here is how to enable this feature:

Go to Wallpaper Menu

Open the Wallpaper menu, either by tapping on an empty area of the Home screen or by going to Apps > Settings > Wallpaper.

Choose Lock Screen

This feature is only available for the Lock screen, so make sure to select it from the menu. If you choose any other option, you won’t be able to activate the feature.

Open Gallery

In the bottom left corner of the screen, tap on From Gallery.

Choose the Images You Want to Use

When you enter the Gallery, you’ll notice that image has a small checkbox in the top left corner. You need to tick the checkboxes on all the images you want to add to your rotating wallpaper. Once you’re done choosing the images, tap on Done in the top right corner of the screen.

Set as Wallpaper

Review your selection once more on the Multiple Images screen and then tap on Set as Wallpaper.

The Final Word

Changing wallpapers on your Samsung Galaxy J5/J5 Prime is very easy. You can use a stock wallpaper, download a free one from the internet, or choose one of your own photos. With the rotating wallpaper option, you can also have a brand new wallpaper every hour of the day.
