Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge – How to Block Calls

Posted by Arch on

Tired of receiving unwanted calls? You can block calls easily using simple commands on your Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge. Rather than dodging unwanted calls on your own device, you can block them instead by following the easy steps below.

Add a Number to Your Block List

Please note that you may see this feature called either Call Blocking or Call Rejection, but they are the same thing. The change in wording depends on your network provider and the version of Android installed on the phone.

Step 1 – Access Phone Settings

First, open your Phone app as if you were going to make a call. In the upper right corner of your phone screen is a button for More. Tap on this option and then select Settings.

From your Call Settings menu, scroll down to Call Blocking/Rejection and tap on this option.

Step 2 – Block Calls

Next, from your Call Blocking/Rejection menu select the Block/Auto Reject List option. This is where you enter information for individual call blocks. You can add to this list in the following ways:

  • Enter a phone number
  • Select a contact from your Contacts List
  • Select a number/contact from your phone log

Step 3 – Block Anonymous Calls

Furthermore, you can also block all anonymous calls to your smartphone. Simply toggle the switch for this feature to On and all calls from unknown or private numbers will be re-routed to voicemail.

Block Calls via Call Log

You can also block calls individually from your call log. This is one of the easiest methods and is ideal when used immediately after receiving the call while it is still fresh in your mind.

Step 1 – Access Call Log

To block an individual call, first access your call log. You can do this by going to your Phone app and opening it. Choose the Call Log tab from your phone options.

Step 2 – Block a Caller

Scroll down to the number you want to block from your Call Log and tap on it. Next, tap on the More option in the upper right corner of the screen and choose the “Add to auto reject list” option.

Removing Contacts and Numbers from Block List

Did you accidentally blacklist the wrong number or contact? Removing entries from your Block List is just as easy as adding them.

Step 1 – Access Phone Settings

To unblock numbers or contacts, open your Phone app. Tap on the More button located in the upper right corner of your screen and pick Settings from the drop-down options.

Step 2 – Unblock Caller

From the Settings menu, tap on Call Rejection. You will see your call blocking menu on the screen. Next, select “Auto reject list” to see all your blocked numbers/contacts.

Scroll down to the contact or number you want to remove from your blocked caller list. Remove the contact from your Block List by tapping on the minus (-) icon next to the entry.

Final Thought

There are numerous ways to block unsolicited calls on your Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge. If you receive frequent sales calls, you don’t need to keep hitting that “Reject” button. Instead, why not let your smartphone take care of those calls for you.
