Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge – Not Receiving Calls – What to Do
Are you having trouble receiving calls on your Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge? Missing important calls can be frustrating. Here are a few troubleshooting tips to find and fix potential problems that can render your phone unable to receive calls.
Troubleshooting Tips for Receiving Calls
If in addition to not being able to receive incoming calls you’re also unable to make outgoing calls, it may likely be a service issue. But if you can make outgoing calls, the following tips might help.
Step 1 – Check Your Blocked Calls List
From your Home screen, tap on the Phone icon as you would when trying to make a call. On the next screen, go to the upper right-hand corner and tap on More first and then on Settings.
Next, from your Call Settings menu, select Call Blocking and then Block List from your options. Double-check to make sure none of your missed calls are listed on the block list.
If the numbers are listed, simply delete them from the list. However, if you don’t have any contacts on your Block List, move onto the next step.
Step 2 – Do Not Disturb Feature
If the block list isn’t the problem, you may want to check your Do Not Disturb settings. Having this switched on, even accidently, will automatically send your calls to voicemail.
To check this, go to your Settings menu and then go to Sound and Notifications. Select Do Not Disturb and make sure that it is switched off.
Step 3 – Factory Reset
If you checked your Blocked List and Do Not Disturb feature and neither one seems to be the culprit, you may want to consider a factory reset. You can do this easily, but performing this action will reset and clear all your personal data.
Because this will permanently wipe your Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge, you may want to backup your data first. If you choose not to backup your information, all of your data will be permanently deleted when your phone is restored to its original factory settings.
When you are ready to perform a factory reset, first go to your Settings menu and then go to Backup & Reset. From there, select Factory Data Reset and confirm your action by tapping on Reset Phone.
After you confirm the action, your phone will wipe and reboot. This may take a few minutes to complete. When it is done, you will be greeted with the initial set-up screen. You may recognize it as being the same one from when you first bought your phone.
If your trouble receiving calls seems to come from one number, you may want to make sure the person calling is dialing the correct number. Try all the troubleshooting options including the factory reset.
If this contact’s calls are still not going through, it may be a problem with their network provider. Ask them to contact their service to find out if it is a call routing issue.
Oftentimes you may receive your brand new phone with the Do Not Disturb option automatically enabled, so make sure to check both this feature and the Block list before attempting a factory reset. If you do find that you will have to perform the reset, ensure that your data is backed up appropriately so that it doesn’t get lost forever.
