How To Use Slow Motion on the iPhone 7/7+
Slow motion is a great feature that can add an extra cool factor to your videos. The iPhone 7/7+ camera also allows you to capture slow motion videos that you can immediately upload to your favorite social media platform. On top of that, there are numerous ways to customize slow motion or apply it to a clip you already have.
In this article, we’ll look into ways to capture your special moments in slow motion.
How to Capture Slow Motion
The following step-by-step guide shows you how to record your videos in slow motion.
1. Launch the Camera App
Tap on the Camera app to launch it. Once inside the Camera live view, swipe either right or up depending on the smartphone orientation.
2. Record Slow Motion
When you reach the desired recording option, the letters SLO-MO will turn yellow, signaling that you’ve made the correct selection. Now all you have to do is press on the big red Record button to start making a clip.
Force Touch Option
The iOS software allows you to have an even quicker access to slow motion by using Force Touch. Here is how to do it:
1. Press on the Camera App
Gently press down on the Camera app until you feel the haptic feedback. A menu pops up letting you select the desired shooting option.
2. Select Record Slo-mo
Just tap on the Record Slo-mo in the pop-up menu and your camera will automatically launch ready to record in slow motion.
You should know that the iPhone camera allows you to use digital zoom when recording to get a better frame for your videos. You can also tap on the yellow square to change focus. There is a slider next to the yellow square that lets you digitally adjust the aperture by swiping up or down.
All slow motion videos you take are immediately saved to your phone in a separate folder. To access them, you need to do the following:
1. Launch the Photos App
Once you are inside the app, swipe down until you reach the Slo-mo folder.
2. Tap on Slo-mo to Enter
3. Share or Edit Your Slow Motion Video
When you are inside the Slo-mo folder, tap on the desired slow motion video to select it. Here you can tap on Edit in the upper right-hand corner to make adjustments to the clip. The Share button in the lower left-hand corner allows you to upload the video to cloud or share it using some other app.
How to Edit Slow Motion
You can adjust the interval of the slow motion video or trim its length by using the Edit option. To get a perfect slow motion clip, you should take the following steps:
1. Tap on Edit
Inside the editing menu, you can see two sliders that indicate the timeline of your video. The upper slider adjusts the interval of the slow motion effect and the lower trims the length of your video.
2. Make the Edits
Simply move the slider bars left or right on either of the timelines to get the desired length and interval. When you are happy with the results, hit Done.
Besides the slow motion, your iPhone has other video modes that can make your clips stand out from the rest. The software is intuitive and very easy to use. On top of that, the quick editing option allows you to get perfect length and interval even if you’ve never used editing software before.
