Xiaomi Redmi 5A – Device Is Charging Slow – What to Do
You’re a very busy person. And you need your smartphone to keep up with you. But what happens if it takes forever to charge your device?
Forever may be an exaggeration. However, more than a few hours of charging may be too long for your Redmi 5A. Typically, it takes 3 to 3.5 hours to fully charge a Xiaomi Redmi 5A. If it’s taking you longer than that, there may be something wrong.
Check out the tips below to get your smartphone charging the way it’s supposed to.
When you get a new phone, do you use the same old cables? Or do you use the ones that come with the device?
Xiaomi Redmi 5As come with a 5V/1A charger. But if you’re not using one appropriate for your phone, it may affect your charging time. If you are using the right charger, the problem may lie in the cables themselves.
Cords go through a lot of abuse. They get bent and stuffed into storage. Your pets may even use them as a chew toy. Try a different cable or adapter to see if that helps with charging time.
Dust and lint may find its way into your phone ports and cause charging issues. This may not be the problem, but it doesn’t hurt to rule them out. Check for damage and corrosion, too.
Background apps and processes are sneaky. They can bog down your phone without you realizing it. But there is a way for you to check if that’s what’s happening to your phone.
Go into the Settings menu and check your Battery Usage. If you can, delete apps that take up a lot of your device power. Or look for Lite versions of your favorite apps.
If you absolutely must keep battery-draining apps on your phone, try to shut down the ones that are not in current use.
Let’s face it. Batteries have gotten better, but they don’t last forever. Lithium-ion batteries are only rated for a certain number of charges. Once you surpass that number, it’s time for a new battery or watch it deteriorate.
If you recently bought your device, your battery may run down a little faster because of chronic “top-ups.” Charging for a few minutes before you leave the house or charging all night runs down the battery equally. And it can only do that a certain number of times before needing to be replaced.
Using Device While Charging
Lastly, if you are one of those people who use their phone while it’s charging, that could be your problem. It’s hard for your Redmi 5A to replace a charge when it’s constantly being used. So try to plug your phone in during the slow times of the day. That way, you aren’t tempted to pick it up while it’s charging.
Alternatively, you can download an app called Ampere that measures your charging rate for you. The app won’t tell you where the problem is, but it can let you know if there is a problem to begin with. It may also save you time when you’re troubleshooting.
