Xiaomi Redmi 5A – Not Receiving Calls – What to Do

Posted by Arch on March 3, 2019

Not being able to receive any calls can be a cause of frustration no matter which smartphone you use. Fortunately, such issues don’t necessarily mean that you need to take your phone to a repair shop.

As soon as you start experiencing this problem, make sure that you are actually connected to your carrier’s network. If that isn’t the case, contact them and ask them to resolve your issue. If you are connected to the network and are still unable to receive calls, try one of the four methods presented in this article.

Method 1 – Do Not Disturb

First of all, you need to go to your phone’s Settings. Over there, you will be greeted by a plethora of different options. You need to scroll down a little bit until you get to the “Do not disturb” option.

Tap on ”Do not disturb” and a simple on/off button will appear on the next screen. If you want to keep receiving phone calls, this option needs to be switched off. If that was the case when you first got to it, then you need to move on to the next method.

Method 2 – Security Settings

Xiaomi smartphones always come equipped with a native security settings app. This app is meant to clean your phone and inspect it for all sorts of security risks, but it can also be in charge of blocking calls.

Go to Tools and then select the Security app. When the app opens, a fullscreen menu with six icons and a security scan window will appear. You need to tap on the “Blocklist” icon in the lower half of the screen.

After that, you will see a list of numbers that you have blocked. While you may have intentionally blocked some of them, others may have ended up there by accident. To remove a number or a contact from this list, long-press it and then tap on the “Remove” button on the bottom of the screen.

Method 3 – Diverted or Forwarded Calls

Once again, go to your phone’s Settings and tap on “Call settings”. On the next screen, you will need to tap on “Call forwarding”. Over here you can check whether any call diverting or call forwarding options are turned on. If that is the case, turning them all off should be enough to start receiving calls again.

Method 4 – Network Selection

When everything else fails, you need to check your network selection settings. First go to the Settings, then choose “Networks”, and then tap on “Select Network Automatically”. By doing so, your phone should be able to connect to your carrier’s network.

You can also choose your preferred network manually from the list of available networks by clicking on the one you want to connect to.

Even though not being able to receive calls on your Xiaomi Redmi 5A is a very frustrating experience, it is something that can be resolved rather easily. We hope that one of the methods presented in this article has helped you fix this issue.
