How to Mill Extra Cards in Gwent

With each new update, Gwent seems to attract even more users. In fact, they often don’t have time to publish guidelines before fans start playing the latest version. One of the questions players commonly ask is how they can mill extra cards.

As we’ll explain, it’s not difficult when you know how. Whether you’re a newbie or an experienced player, we hope you’ll find this article useful.

What Is Milling?

In case you’re not familiar with some of the Gwent terms, we’ll explain them before we start. Firstly, milling. You’ve probably heard experienced players use this term a lot. But what does it actually mean to mill a card?

Well, this process refers to destroying one of your cards in order to get resources from it. Therefore, it only makes sense to mill extra cards – you can do this if you have more copies of the same card. To be more precise, you need to have more than one copy of a gold card or more than two copies of a bronze card.

Of course, milling will provide you with fewer resources than needed to craft a new card. However, it’s still a good idea to do so, because what else could you use your extra cards for?

Moreover, your resources will add up, and once you have enough of them, you can use them to create a new card.

How to Mill Extra Cards

Before we explain further, make sure that your card is a spare one. We’ll now proceed to show you how to mill an extra card. Here’s what you have to do:

  1. Open your Card Collection.
  2. Select the card you want to mill.
  3. Click on the Mill button at the bottom of the screen.

There you have it! It shouldn’t take you more than a minute!

However, note that you can’t mill any card you want. There are some rules when it comes to what cards can be milled. For example, you can’t mill cards in the starter deck. Therefore, you may need to wait for a while until your cards change.

Can I Mill More Cards at the Same Time?

Another frequently asked question is whether you can mill more cards at the same time. The answer is both positive and negative. We’ll explain.

Negative, because there’s no single button you can click to mill more cards at the same time.

Positive, because there’s no limit to the number of cards you can mill. In fact, you can mill card after card, and finish in a couple of minutes. However, you’ll have to select each card and press the Mill button. After that, you can immediately repeat the process for the next spare card, and so on.

Additional Tip

Bear in mind that you can always check the resources gained from milling a particular card. All you have to do is click on it, and the information will appear. You can then decide whether it’s worth milling, or whether you should wait for a new opportunity.

The amount of resources you’d receive from a single card depends on its rarity. For example, a common card would get you only ten scraps, while a Legendary card would get you 800 scraps. At the same time, there’s a maximum you can get from a single card.

The good thing is that even if you don’t get a lot of resources from milling a single card, your funds will eventually add up. You can collect them and then use them to create a new card.

Don’t worry if you can’t remember the value of each card. You’ll learn with time. Until then, you can check in tables like this one.

Think Twice!

Gwent is all about having a good strategy. Therefore, you have to plan every move carefully. Of course, you decide what card to mill, but make sure to pick the right moment. Sometimes being patient and biding your time is the best thing you can do.
