How To Add Bookmark To Homescreen On Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8 Plus

Most people know what a bookmark is from the internet browsers that they were using on their personal computers. As things have evolved and smartphones have slowly but steadily begun to replace the PCs, navigation moved on the phone. With your Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus, you too can surf the web. You have the built-in Internet app, the phone’s browser, and you can download many other third-party browsers from the web. With any of them, bookmarking is a valid option.

When you bookmark an internet page, you are basically creating a shortcut to it. From now on, instead of manually typing the URL of that page, you will be able to tap on its bookmark and go straight to it. The only difference of creating a bookmark on a smartphone instead of doing it on a PC is that on your Galaxy device, the shortcut doesn’t have to stay on your browser’s bookmark bar alone.

You can add a bookmark right to the Home screen of the device!

That bookmark will look exactly like any other icon from your screen. When you will tap on it, however, instead of watching a particular app launching, you will see your default internet browser popping up with the associated web page fully loaded. This means you don’t even have to bother launching the browser yourself, the Home screen bookmark will do it.

In case we weren’t very clear above, this option will work on any Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone and with almost any internet browser, even the third-party ones.

The 5 steps to adding a bookmark on your Galaxy S8 Home screen:

  1. Turn on your smartphone;
  2. Launch the Internet app, your stock web browser app;
  3. Navigate to the web address you wish to bookmark and load that page;
  4. Tap on the 3-dots icon from the upper-right corner to access the menu;
  5. Tap on the option labeled as “Add shortcut to Home screen”.

As you can see, these are the steps for the built-in browser. Extremely simple to follow, won’t take more than a couple of seconds, and apply to any other browser. All you would have to do is to access the menu and to use the special option. If you try the Google Chrome browser, for instance, you will have to use the “Add to home screen” option and hit the Add button.

With some phones, you might even have to long-press the Home screen and access a special window with options. In there, you could have a dedicated “Add to Home screen” option for creating and adding a bookmark to the Home screen.

Needless to say, the steps presented by us above are considerably much simpler. Moreover, they are specifically tailored for all the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus users out there. Once you follow them, an icon of that bookmark will automatically show up on the Home screen and that’s all you need to do!
