Not too many people have heard of RingCentral, which is a pity. This is an excellent communication service based on the cloud. You can use it to send text messages, faxes, place HD calls, and set up meetings and conferences online.

Just think of it as a business communications app similar to Skype, only slightly more business-oriented. One of the best features of RingCentral is ease of access. You can easily see who is calling you, respond, put them on hold, and much more.

Speed dial is another great feature and this article will teach you how to add contacts to speed dial. In this article, we’ll focus on Polycom’s VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol phones).

How to Add Contacts to Favorites

Before you can add someone to speed dial on RingCentral, you need to add them to favorites first. The process differs for different phones, which complicates things. For that reason, there are guides for various individual Polycom phones below.

On any phone, you will need to have the number of the person you want on the favorite list in your contacts.

You need to access Directories and select Contact Directory. Then you should choose the desired contact from the directory and choose Add / Add to Favorites. You will get a notification about accepting the following available index number or choosing your own.

If you press Yes, you will add this favorite contact to the next free number. If you press Edit, you can enter an index number you want. The Polycom VVX 101 and VVX 201 phones have up to 99 index numbers, while other VVX phones have up to 9999 index numbers available.

When you add a new contact to your Contact Directory, they will automatically be assigned a speed dial index number. This number will always be the next free number. The speed dial entries are sorted in an order adjacent to the phone Line Keys.

You can either edit or add an index for speed dial to your existing contact. Just access Directories, and then Contact Directory. You will need to scroll down and highlight the desired contact. With the * button, you can move the page up, while the # button is for moving it down.

Once you’ve highlighted the contact you want to add to speed dial, tap the Edit button. You can enter the next free index number for speed dial. Also, you can delete the index number you have pressing X, and then you can add a different index number for speed dial. Confirm with Save and select Directories to go back.

The same rules about index numbers apply. Whenever you add a contact, they will get the next free number for speed dial. You can get to the Speed Dial menu from the Menu, followed by Features and finally Speed Dial.

To assign a speed dial number to a contact, tap the Dir button and find the contact using the up or down arrows. Then tap the Select button once you’ve found the contact. Tap on Edit, and keep pressing the Down button until the speed dial number pops up.

Select it and enter the next free speed dial number. You can also delete the existing number using the Backspace. After that, add the speed dial number you want. Confirm with OK.

How to Speed Dial

When you have finally added a contact to favorites, you can use the speed dial function. It is different on all Polycom phones, and here is how you can do it:
