How to Fix, Repair or Replace a Broken iPhone Charging Port with Video

If your iPhone 5S charging cable falls out of the charging port or your iPhone won’t charge it may be broken and needs to be repaired. Also, if your iPhone doesn’t charge anymore, it may be that one of the pins are broken and needs to be repaired, this is a common issue with damaged charging ports. Another common issue is that iTunes doesn’t recognizing your iPhone when it’s plugged into the computer. The following instructions will help you replace your old broken iPhone charging port and allow you to charge your iPhone 5S again.

The following will help you fix, repair or replace your broken iPhone charging port. This method works for the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 4S and other models:

  1. Power off your iPhone, by using the Slide to Power off option. Then use the eject pin to take out the SIM card tray.
  2. Using a screwdriver under the 2 screws at the bottom of the iPhone near the charging port.
  3. Use a spudger tool to lift the LCD assembly and start releasing all the clips from the assembly.
  4. Undo the 2 screws to remove the metal shield and disconnect the charging port flex cable and also the antenna connector cable.
  5. Next, undo 7 screws to remove the speaker on the iPhone and use the spudger tool to remove the broken charging port on the iPhone.
  6. Replace the old broken charging port with the new charging port and fasten the 7 screws back on.
  7. Now going in reverse order place all the parts back together to solve your issue with your broken charging port.
