How to Make the Most out of Your PS4 Console

It has been more than two years since the PS4 was launched, and if you are a proud owner of one, you have noticed that a lot has changed. You have probably already enjoyed a lot of the amazing games that the PS4 has to offer, but how much time have you spent poking around your console and discovering its hidden and amazing potentials?

This amazing machine from the Sony has awesome features, and some of them are not so easy to spot. So, we have done the poking around for you, and we’ve found some things that will improve your gaming experience and help you get the most out of your PS4 console.

Taking Screenshots is Quicker and Easier

By using your controller, you can take a screenshot by default, simply by holding the share button for a couple of seconds. That way, you capture a screenshot of the game you are playing without wasting any extra time. And, if this not fast enough for your needs, you can tweak the settings and adjust them so that only a brief press of the share button will immediately snap a screenshot, and if you hold it, you will load up the Share application. To do this, press the Share Button and open the share menu, choose the Options button, then Share Settings and after that Share Button Control Type and select the option that suits you the most.

Stand By For Updating and Charging

One of the coolest things with the PS4 is that you can download updates and games and install them, while the PS4 is in standby mode. This is a great thing because it consumes less power while downloading and updating and it does it all quietly, which is great if you are downloading at night. Enable auto downloads and uploads by going to Settings, then System, and then to Automatic Downloads and Uploads.

After you have enabled that, go to Settings, then Power Save Settings, and then Set Functions Available in Standby Mode. Make sure that you are connected to the internet and this is it. Once you have enabled the standby mode, you can also charge your controller, and this is a handy feature since the battery life for the DualShock 4 is approximately seven hours. Follow the path we mentioned before and, when you get to Set Functions Available in Standby Mode, simply check the box Supply Power from USB Ports.

Upload Data to USB

This is a great way to save yourself some hard drive space, by taking advantage of USB storage. You need to be subscribed to PlayStation Plus. Head to Settings, and then Application Saved Data Management. You will find a self-explanatory menu on how to upload and download data to a USB storage device.

Use Your Phone as a Keyboard

Using the browser on your PS4 console can be a little tricky, even with the DualShock 4 text-input features. So, if you want to make it easier for you, you can download the PlayStation App and use your phone as a keyboard for easier text entries. When you install the app, select the option Connect to PS4, using the same Wi-Fi connection and that will enable you to navigate the browser with the phone’s on-screen keyboard.

These are just some of the numerous features that the PS4 console has to offer, and we have selected a few of them that can help you make the most out of your money. Feel free to explore them all, and you will find many useful tips and tricks that will make your gaming experience even better.
