For those that own a Samsung Galaxy J5, you may want to know how to use the mobile hotspot feature. The Mobile Hotspot on the Galaxy J5 allows you to connect other devices to the Internet. The best option is to use the Galaxy J5 Hotspot to allow these devices to get Internet access. Setting up the Samsung J5 as a mobile hotspot is also great for when there is a bad public Wifi connection. The new battery life on the J5 is great for using the mobile hotspot feature since the Galaxy J5 battery can last for hours.

To be able to use the Galaxy J5 hotspot, you first need to set up Hotspot on the J5. This process is not hard to do and below we’ll explain how to use the mobile hotspot and how to change the security password on the Samsung Galaxy J5.

 

 

How to turn the Samsung Galaxy J5 into a wireless hotspot:

  1. Turn on the Samsung J5.
  2. Go to the Notification Settings, by swiping down on the Home screen.
  3. In the top right corner of the screen, select on Settings.
  4. Browse for Tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot and select it.
  5. Then select on Mobile Hotspot.
  6. Change the On/Off toggle to On.
  7. Select OK on the Attention screen advising you that WiFi will be turned off.
  8. Follow the directions at the bottom of the screen to connect another device to your J5.

 

How to change the password and security type for wireless hotspot on Galaxy J5

It’s standard for the Samsung J5 to add a password to the mobile hotspot feature. It also defaults to WPA2 for security. Follow the steps below to change these settings:

  1. Turn on the Galaxy J5.
  2. Go to the Notification Settings, by swiping down on the Home screen.
  3. In the top right corner of the screen, select on Settings.
  4. Browse for Tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot and select it.
  5. Then select on Mobile Hotspot.
  6. Select on the three dots to view more options.
  7. Select Configure.
  8. Change the password and select Save.

 

It’s important to note that some data plans don’t offer mobile hotspot unless you upgrade to that service. After you have followed the instructions above and you see that Mobile Hotspot not working on the Galaxy J5, then it’s recommended that you contact your wireless carrier to see if you can get a compatible data plan.
