Apex Legends is one of the most popular games that allows players to personalize their characters. Besides competing in its Battle Royale mode, customizing your in-game avatar is the next best thing to do.
In Apex Legends, you can customize your character with different Legend skins, weapon skins, Quips, banners, and other cosmetic items.
This article will give you more information about Apex Legends cosmetic items in general, and show you how to use the Quips.
Types of Cosmetic Items in Apex Legends
There are 8 types of cosmetic items in Apex Legends you can use to customize your character. The list below shows each type:
a) Legend Finishers
b) Legend Skins
c) Weapon Skins
d) Banner Frames
e) Banner Stat Trackers
f) Banner Poses
g) Kill Quips
h) Intro Quips
Based on rarity, the loot in this game can either be Common, Rare, Epic, or Legendary. Unfortunately, not all tiers are available for every cosmetic item type. Here’s what you can expect to find:
|Banner Stat Trackers||+||+||–||–|
Other Battle Royale games, such as Fortnite and PUBG, also have these types of cosmetic items, with the exception of Banners.
Banner Frames, Banner Poses, and Banner Stat Trackers are three cosmetic item groups that are unique to Apex Legends. They can be seen around the Arena and by interacting with them, players can even revive their fallen teammates.
Besides Banners, Respawn (the company behind Apex Legends) has done a fantastic job of making their Voice emotes fairly different from the ones in other games. Each character has their own set of quips that are not only witty but very fun to use. But how can you use them?
How to Use Apex Legends Quips
There are 8 Legends that you can play in this game. As mentioned above, each one has their own set of Quips that go with their characters. Unlike some other Battle Royale games, Respawn has hired 8 different actors to do the voice-overs.
Using the quips is rather easy but you won’t have that many options to choose from if you’re new to the game. You only get a few Quips at the beginning, and the rest you’ll have to pick up along the way.
To check the ones you currently have:
- Open Apex Legends.
- Select the Legends tab from the main menu.
- Select the Legend that you want to customize. This will send you to the Customization screen.
- Click on the Quips tab.
Once you’ve selected the Quips tab, you’ll be prompted with the full list of Voice emotes that your Legend can use. There are two types of Quips. The Intro Quips are played during the Intro or when somebody inspects your character, and the Kill Quips are played after you make an in-game kill. You’ll be able to preview all of the Quips from the list, but only use the ones that you currently possess.
To set a new Quip for a certain Legend, simply click on the Voice emote that you want. You’ll know that the Quip has been set when a Checkmark icon appears next to its name.
The ones that you don’t possess have a Lock icon instead of the check mark. There are several ways to unlock them, which we’ll explain in the following section.
Unlocking Quips in Apex Legends
You can unlock Quips in Apex Legends the same way you would unlock any other type of cosmetic item. That means that you have three options:
a) Opening Apex Packs.
b) Accomplishing Challenges in Battle Passes.
c) Spending Apex Coins in the Rotation Shop.
Apex Packs are very similar to PUBG’s crates. You get free packs as you level your Legend, or you can spend Apex Coins and buy the packs. Either way, their content is random and you never know what you might get.
The second option is to purchase Battle Pass tickets with Apex Coins and participate in challenges. If you accomplish a challenge successfully, you’ll be rewarded with interesting cosmetic items. Who knows, maybe a cool Quip will be one of them.
Finally, you can spend your Apex Coins in the Rotation Shop. You can even use the Legend Tokens to acquire new items. Just like the name suggests, different items will be available at different times due to the Rotation system.
Be Creative with Your Quips
You can use Quips in many different ways. Imagine your Legend saying “Well, that was easy!” every time they make a kill. That would make the enemy player want to quit Apex Legends for the day.
Now that you know how to set Quips and acquire new ones, be creative and use them in a fun way.
