You may also set a specific goal on to how many steps you must take.

In order to gather data for the steps taken using your Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus, the S Health application has this tiny device that can detect the footsteps and this device is called as the accelerometer. The way to detect the motion of the steps you take is to place your phone near your body so that the accelerometer can detect the movement and records the data gathered.

The pedometer on the S health helps you to track and reach the number of footsteps you must take every day. The way it works is through the use of motion sensor which is integrated already on your smartphone. This sensor counts on the steps you take without energy consumption. However, if you want to save your battery and doesn’t want to use your pedometer anymore we will explain below how you can disable this feature using the Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus.

Creating Lock Screen shortcut for S Health app:

  1. Click the Settings
  2. Select Lock Screen and Security
  3. Click the “Info an app shortcuts”
  4. Click the “App shortcuts”
  5. Choose from “Right shortcut” or “Left shortcut”
  6. Click S Health application
  7. Press Home key button to return on the Home screen
  8. Press Power button to lock the device

The S Health application will now appear at the bottom of the Lock screen.

Steps on How to Use and Setup S Health Pedometer

  1. Open the S Health Fitness application
  2. Click “Steps” card (below the 3-horizontal dots)
  3. Select “More” on the screen located at the top right corner
  4. Choose “Set target”
  5. Select “6000” then enter your desired number of steps
  6. Click “Done” located at the bottom right of the screen

Your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus can now track the steps you take and it will notify you if you already achieve your goal. If you want to switch off your pedometer, just follow the steps below.

Turning Off S Health Pedometer

    1. Open the S Health Fitness application
    2. Click “Steps” card (below the 3-horizontal dots)
    3. Select “More” on the screen located at the top right corner
    4. Click “Pause counting steps”
    5. Then press the Home key button to leave the S Health application settings

You have now successfully switched off the pedometer and will no longer count the steps you take.
