How to Make a Complaint on Doordash

Currently, Doordash is the biggest on-demand food app in the USA. It has over 400,000 delivery workers, or Dashers as they’re called. Doordash is worth $7.1 billion, but it’s had its fair share of criticism about things such as tips, worker safety, worker pay, customer safety, and service experience. If you’ve had a bad experience with Doordash, there are two ways you may complain.

How Do I Complain to Doordash?

You can rate your delivery person, or you can complain to the company itself. If you feel that you’ve wasted money, then you’re within your rights to do so.

A third option is to go online and leave negative reviews about the company on websites like SiteJabber and TrustPilot. If you feel that the service wasn’t up to scratch, then going online allows you to warn other people about your experience.

Reviewing Your Delivery Person

To leave a review on a delivery person is easy. Follow these steps:

  1. On the Doordash app or website, go to your Doordash Merchant Portal.
  2. Select “Deliveries” Scroll down and find the delivery that you’re not happy with. You’ll see the dasher’s (delivery person’s name) and the word “Rate” next to it.
  3. Click the “Rate” button and leave a review for the delivery person.

Complaining to the Company

To do so, you’ll need to submit a support case. Open up your Doordash Merchant Portal and tap the “Help” option. Note that they’re probably going to give you the runaround while they try to auto-fix your problem. Regardless, navigate through the options until you find the link/method by which you can complain to the company by submitting a request to their merchant support team.

If you’re not happy with that method, then go online via a desktop computer and visit their desktop website. There you’ll find a contact customer support form. Here is the link to the contact form page. The page is pretty self-explanatory, if there doesn’t appear to be a category to choose called “Complaints.” Therefore, you’ll have to pick the categories closest to your initial problem or grievance.

Do Other People Complain About or Dislike Doordash?

To reiterate, the proof that Doordash is disliked is confirmed by its online reputation. it’s pretty bad, and even though it only represents a small portion of their customers, it’s still statistically significant.

There are two reasons for the terrible online reputation that Doordash has acquired. The first is because many online reviewers feel that Doordash offers poor-quality service.

Even if less than 5% of its customers are disappointed on any one night, it’s just not good enough for a company in the service industry. Can you imagine if your electricity went out for 5% of every day, or if a waiter dropped one out of every twenty plates he/she carried?

The second reason is because of the nature of the service industry. When people order a service, they expect it to be good. And why not, since they’re handing over their hard-earned cash. When somebody receives good service, they figure they deserve it and that’s that. However, when they receive bad service, they feel cheated and go online to vent. As a result, people only place positive online reviews when the service is above and beyond. In contrast, even the smallest inconvenience will have them jumping online to complain. Hence the high number of negative reviews compared to the low number of positive reviews.

Doordash Hires Regular People – Aren’t They to Blame?

Almost anybody can work for Doordash if they wish. Doordash is part of the “Gig” culture where almost anybody can apply to make freelance money by delivering food. And, it’s true that a few bad apples are the reason why Doordash has such a poor online reputation. That said, Doordash chooses to run their business this way, so they’re still responsible for the poor-quality service some people receive and for the negative reviews.

Plus, there are plenty of other services that hire regular people, and have a rather good online reputation. A few examples are Uber Eats, Zomato, Swiggy and Grub Hub.

Should I Complain Online?

As outlined above, DoorDash has a bad online reputation through poor service standards. If people complained every time their taxi was late, then taxi companies would share Doordash’s poor online reputation. But the question is, if you’re complaining, should you also leave negative reviews on review websites?

In fairness, you should firstly allow Doordash to respond to your complaint. If you submitted a complaint to the company itself, rather than just rating the driver, then it takes around one business day for them to reply. Or, two business days if you contacted them via their desktop website.

Secondly, if it’s the driver’s fault, then Doordash is still to blame, so feel free to go online and complain. However, try to rule out if it was the restaurant’s fault. Was the food smashed up before it was handed to the driver? Was it cold before the driver even received the order? Did the restaurant cause the delay rather than the driver? Just be sure you know whom is to blame before you add to the online disdain directed at this company.

Are There Any Alternatives to Doordash?

If you’re not having a good time with Doordash, and/or you’re not receiving a good service, then try a competitor or a different way to have your food delivered. Many takeaways and restaurants have online ordering and delivery services. There are also companies like Food Hub, Ritual – Order Local and Just Eat. They allow people to buy online and have food delivered. Plus, if you don’t like Doordash, you can use Uber Eats, Zomato, Swiggy and/or Grub Hub.

Doordash has a bad reputation because they rip off customers and the dashers, Their customer or dasher support is a joke, they refuse to be held accountable for the mistakes or deliberate wrongs they do, support always is inept, twisting issue fault back to who ever is trying present the issue. They are greedy beyond their needs. They constantly lie to everyone about everything, making rules up as they go, stating one thing but actions are the opposite. They refuse payment, refunds whether you received food or not, you may have wanted large pizzas and paid for large but received small pizzas because that’s what they ordered for you. Good luck getting your money back for the difference in prices. Support is rude, unapologetic, and blatantly disrespectful ripping you off and thumbing their noses at everyone. The new pay scale for dashers is a joke, they just found different way report the earnings, no doubt in my mind they still skim tips. They have a zillion ways to scam anyone who engages with them. Why haven’t they been shut down investigated and audited? Who are they paying off?

as a merchant that has been using doordash we are very disappointed. The problem is the company has a system that does not fix delivery issues when they are first informed of them. It takes lots of correspondence to finally get them to pay us for the food that was given to a driver and then not delivered. They even have a system in place that will not pay the merchant for an order if the same customer orders the same things but 2 hours apart. Doordash always tries to cheat the restaurant and not pay for any delivery issue regardless if it is an issue with their own drivers or not. I believe that if we give an order to a driver then we should be paid regardless if it is delivered or not as once we had it off doordash is then responsible for it. It they wanna get their money from the driver’s pay so be it but as a corporation they need to be the first stop in responsibility to the merchant for trusting them with their product. If there is a mistake in filling the order then a discount to the customer is appropriate and the restaurant should cover that.

Everyone needs to know that doordash has a fraud habit…ruuuun far war from this service…check your bank statement…check your credit card…check any way that doordash could setup automatic withdrawals, charges, and who knows what else. Every month for nearly the past year already, I’ve had doordash charges added to my credit card. I’ve never used this service and certainly will never use it! As well, the probability of every it being fixed through email is NOT! The most unknowledgeable is who they use to even look at those email, and then they use those repetitive email that constantly asks you for the same info over and over. And it’s someone different with every email, sometimes several a day. What do they do with the info from the first email that includes all the required info??? No so called business should ever be in business when this is the usual way it uses people. Apparently they thought they could make this work but apparently fail and fall hard. I’m not seeing a lot of kind words about doordash.

I am allergic to onions and specifically asked for bone. Order came in with top full and Door Dash tells me it’s nothing they can do. I have been off work since March and a company like this wants to take money from me as they bolster about helping out during these hard times. I even contacted the CEO on Twitter and waiting to hear back. They are disgusting

I didn’t receive my food through the door dash driver Noleyva. When I spoke to the driver regarding the food they said they left the food on a table outside by a gate. No food was left. When I told the driver to explain which table, because no food is left on any table outside Noleyva hanged up the phone on me. This is very bad business for door dash. I have not had any problems in the past, however this will definitely put a bad taste in anyone’s mouth. I deserve to be compensated with a full refund. Thank you!

I ordered food last night an hour and a half later the driver called and said that the restaurant would not prepare it because the price difference and then this morning I see that they charged me twice for the me on top of it this company is no good do not use them

I am very disappointed at the driver who never brought me my order, I’ve been charged and have to be inconvenience at my expense, not far that we can’t interact with the driver.. i demand to be refunded in full..
