The Most Popular Instagram Dogs to Follow Right Now [May 2019]

Posted by Jamie on May 30, 2019

There are a million different ways to use Instagram but one of the more random is to follow the account of a dog. Sure, we all love man’s best friend and some dogs do offer some amazing photo opportunities, but a dog? Really? Apparently I’m in the minority by not following at least one dog on Instagram. Here are the most popular Instagram dogs you can follow right now.

Looking at some of these images, you can see why people follow dogs on Instagram. Humans are fine and come up with a thousand reasons for following but they all meld into the same kind of noise after a while. A furry bundle of fluff on the other hand is a gift that keeps on giving.

Here are some of the more popular dogs on Instagram. They aren’t in any particular order as that would change all the time anyway.

The Dogist

So, we have decided that Finn is too good of a boy not to keep. Also, we’ve fallen in love with him. We originally planned to take him to LA to find him a home, but we didn’t make it that far – we decided to turn around at the Grand Canyon. We, like many fosters before us, realized that we couldn’t go back to life before Finn. He had simply become part of our family. So, although the road trip is over, our journey with Finn has really just begun. So get ready to watch this good boy continue to grow up! We’ve created a separate account for him, called @KeepingFinn, where you can follow his daily life with his new proud father, Henry, brother to Elias (The Dogist). Cheers to @TheSatoProject and everyone who made this #RescueRide possible – we’re super excited to begin this new phase of life with a dog (finally) and stay tuned for more very exciting news coming soon!

The Dogist isn’t a single dog but a documentary account that features many dogs, puppies and owners from across the world. With a new image every day, if you follow one Instagram account that features a dog or dogs, this should be the one.

Jiff Pom is cute Pomeranian with two world records and a Katy Perry video (Dark Horse) under his belt. He holds the Guinness World Records for the fastest run on hind legs for 10m and the fastest run on forelegs for 5m.This dog is admittedly very cute and one of the sweeter dogs on Instagram.

hi from me

A post shared by NORBERT (@norbertthedog) on

Norbert is a cute therapy dog that visits hospitals to cheer up patients and make them smile. The tongue says it all really and if you were a kid in hospital and this little thing turned up, you should smile too. Therapy dogs are amazing for morale and this is one of the cuter ones.

Marnie the Dog

A post shared by Marnie The Dog (@marniethedog) on

Marnie the Dog is a Shih Tzu, a breed that never fails to make me smile for the name alone. This dog was adopted from an animal shelter and is apparently seventeen years old. Marnie has over 2 million social media followers and takes some seriously good selfies to keep everyone entertained.

Maru the Shiba

Maru the Shiba is a Japanese Instagram hit with 2.5 million followers across the world. The dog combines a good size, cute looks, perfect proportions and the ability to smile like a human to create a serious following. The dog also has its own brand of merch and a very loyal following on social media.

Tuna the Chiweenie

Tuna the Chiweenie doesn’t quite have the cute factor in the same was Maru or Marnie does but is entertaining in his own right. A Chihuahua-Dachshund mix with almost 2 million followers, Tuna is a figurehead promoting animal adoption and with that obvious overbite, is doing well showing the world that perfection is overrated whoever you might be.

Loki the Wolfdog

Loki the Wolfdog is much more my thing. A good sized dog, built to work but has an amazing capacity for fun and to make you laugh. Everything a dog needs. Loki is no exception with a cute face and photogenic features, so it’s no wonder he has featured in ads for Toyota and Nike.

Winston the White Corgi

Who said you can leave? 🙅🏻‍♂️

A post shared by Winston the White Corgi (@winstonthewhitecorgi) on

Winston the White Corgi is a pure white dog that has a fine coat of fur and a very sweet face. With the ability to speak volumes with his very expressive eyes, this dog has attained quite the following on Instagram and elsewhere.

Tonkey Bear

Tonkey Bear is a well-named dog. Rocking the wrinkles as only a Shar Pei can, this dog makes for some very cute pics. With hobbies that include sleeping, cuddling and posing for selfies, he has more to offer than many Instagram ‘celebrities’ that’s for sure!

Maya the Samoyed

Have a happ and booptiful day! ✨

A post shared by MAYA THE SAMOYED (@mayapolarbear) on

Maya the Samoyed is typical of her breed, friendly, mischievous and vocal. The pics and videos on Instagram shows her playing, being cute and speaking to her owner. With a white coat and cute face, being exceptionally photogenic obviously doesn’t hurt either.

Bodhi the Menswear Dog

Good Boy.

A post shared by Menswear Dog (@mensweardog) on

Bodhi the Menswear Dog is game I’ll give him that. I’m not usually a fan of animals made to promote brands but this dog is such a relaxed guy that he allows himself to be posed with a series of looks that appear almost human.
