Many people believe that the only requirement for a good selfie or photo on Instagram is a good camera. Sure, image quality is super important, but sometimes it is not enough. Sometimes you need an extra edge, a little something to spice up your photos.

PicsArt is a fantastic photo editing app that can do wonders for your images, which you can later upload on various social media, including Instagram. You can keep taking no filter photos, which seem bland and uninteresting, or you can bring your photos to the next level.

Preparation

If you haven’t heard of PicsArt before or you are relatively new to it, here is some background info. This app is a feature-packed photo and video editor for smartphones. It offers filters, face editors, and much more.

On PC, you have plenty of options, and editing is relatively easier on computers. On mobile, it is rather hard, but that’s not the case if you get PicsArt. This app is free to download on iOS, Android, and Windows devices.

Besides this app, you will need to prepare a quality image that you want to edit. It helps if your phone has a good camera, or if you have a professional camera at your disposal. That’s because the original image has to have high resolution (1500 pixels or above) and sharpness.

Change the Background

Did you take a selfie in your bathroom? Relax, everyone does that. However, bathroom selfies don’t look as good as pictures in the open, with magnificent scenery. You can use PicsArt to change the background in your photos:

  1. Open the PicsArt app.
  2. Open the photo you want to change in the PicsArt Editor.
  3. Select the Square Fit option at the bottom of the editor.
  4. Tap on one of the free to edit images in PicsArt’s menu or upload your photo. It will be your new background.
  5. Select the auto-erase option if you want to adjust the image.

That’s it. Now you have some beautiful scenery behind you instead of your room. That’s great if you have a fire picture, but your place was messy at the time. No one needs to know, make them think you were on a beach or a mountain.

Add Some Cool Filters or Effects

PicsArt allows you to create many colorful effects and filters for your photos. Load the image you have in mind to the photo editor, and select the effect or effects you want to add. There are many cool effects, some are subtle, while others are a bit more drastic.

Many Instagrammers like the effect named Colorize effect. It lets you color the entire photo in different hues. You can also opt to paint only the background. To do this, select the eraser and mark the person on the picture with it. That way, the filter will only affect the background.

Time to Upload

PicsArt has many other options you can try out. These include dispersion, stickers, overlays, etc. You will get the hang of them if you keep using the app. When you are satisfied with the results, add your edited photo to Instagram and see how people react.
