Piggy Chrome Extension Review

Piggy is an automatic coupon and cash savings app founded in 2014 for use with online shopping. It will automatically find the best deals for you to maximize your savings with purchases made online through specified retailers. All that’s needed is a quick account registration over at joinpiggy.com and then either download the extension or mobile application.

John Anderson and Nicholas Corrieri created Piggy through the implementation of cutting-edge technology. Automation and simplicity are the key takeaways from what Piggy supplies its users. It’s also an environmentally-friendly operation which means you get to save cash and the planet simultaneously.

How To Acquire The Piggy App

As posted previously, you’ll need to head over to joinpiggy.com and register for an account before you can get to download the app or extension.

Click Create An Account at the top right of the site’s home page, choose to register through Facebook, Google, or a separate email address, and you’re practically done. Once you have an account, you can fill out additional information by clicking on My Account and choosing Settings from the drop-down.

If you’d rather just get to saving:

  1. From the main page, you can choose Get the App (if on mobile) or Add to Chrome (if opened with Google Chrome).
  2. Clicking on the Add to Chrome option will take you to the Google Extensions Store where you will once again need to click the Add to Chrome button, which is located at the top right of the screen.
  3. Next, click the Add Extension button from the dialog box. You should now see the download pop up on a bar at the bottom of the screen. This indicates that Chrome is adding the extension.
  4. Afterward, you’ll be taken back to the joinpiggy.com site and a new icon can be seen to the top right of your search bar. It will look something similar to a coupon with a gray ribbon in the center.

Congratulations, you now have the Piggy Chrome Extension.

The extension is also available to Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer but none of these options are recommended over Google Chrome. The app is available to both iOS and Android mobile devices if that is your preferred online shopping platform.

As a bonus, if you choose to download the app, you can receive a $5 bonus on your first purchase.

How Piggy Works

Piggy can be used with over 3000 different retailers and websites, including such businesses as JCPenney, Sams Club, Hilton Hotels, the Microsoft Store, and many others. You can check out all of them right on their website from the Stores tab.

Shopping online at one of these retailers will illuminate the browser extension, indicating that there are coupons currently available for use. You can click on the extension itself to see all of the coupons listed as well as any cash back offers that are available to you.

Just click on the scissors symbol located next to the coupon codes and paste them into the discount code section at checkout. You can also continue shopping as Piggy is keen on reminding you once you’ve finished that there are still savings to be collected.

So long as you’re using Piggy, you won’t have to scour the web in order to find the best deals. Piggy will deliver them all to you automatically. If you happen to be using the app instead of the extension, coupons should pop up automatically once you reach the checkout page.

Piggy Savings

A claim on the site shows a total savings of over $36 million dollars for the users of the app and extension since it went live. You can monitor your own savings directly on the official site by heading to My Account and clicking on Check Earnings.

There’s also the option to add your favorite stores by choosing Store Favorites from the My Account drop-down. They even provide a way to earn money through referrals as well.

How Piggy Stacks Up To Rivals

Currently Piggy sits at a five-star rating on the Chrome Web Store with a user count of over 1.2 million. From most of the positive reviews that have been posted, most claim that the ease of use and the ability to save using the “set it and forget it” approach is why Piggy tops their list.

The primary list of complaints on other sites seems to stem from having issues with payments with transactions and cash backs owed. Some reviews also claim that Piggy actually delivers rewards and cash back offers that total 1% less than what competitors offer.

My advice would be to download a second coupon savings extension so that you receive a side by side comparison on the savings offered. At least you know that you’re likely getting the best deal with more options at your fingertips.

Verdict

It’s hard to argue against free money. If you’re planning on spending money shopping for online items, you might as well try and receive the best deals you can. That way you can spend it on an additional gift for the holiday season or perhaps save a little extra to be able to treat yourself to something nice.

I figure why not give it a whirl? The extension seems safe (no issues I could find with security) and it’s offering free money on things you may be looking to buy. Of course, there will be plenty of offers for things you have no interest in but that’s what these sorts of things are designed for. To make you want to spend money by offering up savings.

Some users may experience frustrations with the timely manner in which they receive cash back but for no risk and essentially all reward, what have you really got to lose?
