How to Record Hands-Free on Snapchat

Whether you’re new to the app or branching out in the world of creativity, you can easily film hands-free content. The instructions for iOS and AndroidOS are similar.

Note: Ensure you’re using the latest version of the Snapchat app.

Here’s what to do:

Open Snapchat and locate the Record button in the lower center of the screen.
Start recording. Then, slide your finger to the left toward the Lock icon that appears.
Snapchat will continue recording after you’ve released the button.

Now, you can start your video without using your hands to hold the record button. Unfortunately, you may lose a few seconds of recording while holding the button. Fortunately, you can set a timer.

How to Record on Snapchat with a Timer

If you want to start a countdown before recording so you can get ready, the Snapchat app has the solution. Here’s what to do:

Open Snapchat and tap the + icon on the right side.
Select Timer.
Tap the Timer button on the right side to adjust the time you need. Then, adjust the slider and select Set Timer.
Tap the Record button.

If that’s not working, you can press and hold the viewfinder for a few seconds until alternate lens options appear. Then, below those lenses, tap the Scan option, scroll to the left, and select the Music option. This will let the app know what you are trying to scan for rather than conducting a general scan.

Share Snapchat Stories Outside of the App

It used to be that Snapchat Stories created in the app stayed in the app. Now, though, you can share your stories with anyone on any platform easily. Just press and hold the story you want to share, tap Share when it appears, and send your stories wherever you want them to go!
