Samsung Galaxy J5: Turn Safe Mode ON Or OFF

The Samsung Galaxy J5 features Safe Mode that allows uses to access the operating system in a pared down form, where just the default software is running. By and large, this is in case there are any troubleshooting issues on the Galaxy J5; Safe Mode will let you address them without being troubled by any apps that are causing the issues.

In this sort of environment, you can more securely uninstall applications if you can’t do so through normal means (ie., if the app keeps freezing when you try) or troubleshoot bugs. After you have fixed the issues, you can get the Galaxy J5 out of Safe Mode and use the smartphone like normal, without doing any damage to your phone or the OS. Below are instructions on how to turn on Safe Mode and how to get the Galaxy J5 back out of Safe Mode again.

How to turn on Safe Mode on the Samsung Galaxy J5:

  1. Turn the Galaxy J5 off.
  2. Press and hold the Power/Lock button and the Volume Down button at the same time, until you see the Samsung logo.
  3. When the logo shows up, immediately release the Power button while continuing to hold down the Volume Down button.
  4. Release the Volume Down button once your phone finishes rebooting.
  5. If it was loaded successfully, you’ll see ‘Safe Mode’ in the bottom left corner of the screen.

It’s important to note that when the Galaxy J5 is in Safe Mode, this will disable all third party services and apps until the Galaxy J5 is out of Safe Mode again. This allows you to get into the device quickly, enable or disable whatever you need to, then restart the phone again.

How to get Galaxy J5 out of safe mode:

Simply put, just restart the phone.

It has been reported that some Galaxy J5 models may require you to press and hold the Volume Down button during startup in the same manner as enabling it to exit Safe Mode, but this varies from phone to phone.

The instructions above should help when you want to boot Galaxy J5 into Safe Mode when you’re having troubleshooting issues with individual apps and want to fix the problem with a minimum amount of hassle.
