Samsung Galaxy S9: How to Enable or Disable Driving Mode

The Verizon version of the Samsung Galaxy S9 has a Driving Mode feature that automatically rejects voice calls through messages that can be tailored for your current activity.  This feature sends messages to your caller by responding with, for example, “I’m driving right now – I’ll call you back later” without you ever having to type a single letter. When compared to you trying to send a message yourself and accidentally getting pancaked against a billboard, this is probably the better option.

The driving mode feature is useful for people who don’t want to get distracted when they’re behind the wheel. To get right to the point, below are the steps on how to disable or enable Driving Mode on your Samsung Galaxy S9.

Setting Up Driving Mode

  • Launch the dedicated Verizon Message+ app.
  • Then tap on the menu button at the top left of the screen.
  • Select the Driving Mode option.
  • Tap on Add Device to pair a Bluetooth device to your Galaxy S9’s Driving Mode. This is the only way the feature will stay active.
  • Check the box for the option named Driving Mode Auto-Reply after pairing the phone with a Bluetooth device.

You can disable this feature by just unchecking the same boxes you just checked. Now that you have learned how to enable and disable this mode, you can change the default text message to whatever you want it to say. Change it from “Driving Auto-Reply Message” into something more personalized.
