How to Search for People on Facebook Without Signing Up

Although it seems almost impossible to use any of Facebook’s features without being logged into your Facebook account, some of them are still visible to everyone – including people who don’t have an account.

Of course, you won’t be able to interact with people in any way if you aren’t logged into your account. All you can do is to take a peek at what they’re up to these days.

Let’s see how you can search for people on Facebook without being logged in.

Searching for People on Facebook from the Outside

Whether you don’t have a Facebook account or currently don’t want to log into it, you can still use Facebook’s search feature.

But you can’t use the same method as when you’re logged in. Usually, all you need to do is type the name of the person that you want to search for in Facebook’s search bar and multiple results will be shown.

When you aren’t logged into Facebook, your alternative would be to use the Google search bar.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Open your browser and preferred search engine
  2. Type in the person’s first name, their last name, and then add Facebook
  3. Hit Enter
  4. Click on the first link

You need to enter the full name of the person that you want to look up on Facebook, so that Google can provide you with relevant search options. But you don’t necessarily have to go through all your Google search results.

The best way to explain this is to use an example.

Let’s say you have a friend called John Wiggins that you want to find on Facebook. Your Google search option should look like this: John Wiggins Facebook.

After hitting enter, many Facebook links will be displayed, but you should click on the first one.

Once you’ve clicked on the first link, you will enter Facebook’s search page from the outside. That means that you will be asked to log into your account on the top of the page, but you will still be able to see the search results even without logging in.

Now, all that’s left to do now is to scroll down and hope you will recognize the John Wiggins you are looking for. This is easier to do from here than from the Google search page, as Facebook shows you the profile pics for every search result.

If you can find the John that you are looking for, click on his name to visit his Facebook profile.

What Happens When You Find Them?

Again, you won’t be able to chat with the person you have found. But you can still see some of their information. Most people add their favorite food, movie and shows, birth towns, and even e-mails or phone numbers when they create their Facebook account.

This information can be visible to you if that person didn’t change their privacy settings. If they did choose to hide this information from people that they aren’t friends with (including those who are searching from the outside), you will only be able to see their profile picture and account description.

This is the easiest way to search for people if you don’t have a Facebook account. There is an alternative, but it’s a shot in the dark.

Use Facebook URLs

Since most Facebook profile links are in the format of www.facebook.com/name.surname you can directly end up on that person’s Facebook profile.

If we search for John from before, you could try something like …/john.wiggins, /john.wiggins1, /wiggins.john, etc.

Obviously, this is the equivalent of searching for a needle in a haystack. Some of the URLs you try might not be valid at all – for example, there’s a chance that john.wiggins1 isn’t owned by anyone.

An alternative method is to enter the person’s nickname at the end of the URL.

You can also search for people based on their e-mail addresses. If you know someone’s e-mail address, try typing it into your Google search bar, add Facebook and hit Enter.

Although all of these methods can help you with your search outside of Facebook, the first one is definitely the most reliable.

Find People in No Time

Remember that the more you know about a person, the easier it will be for you to find them on Facebook. This goes for both scenarios: when you are logged into your Facebook account and when you aren’t.

You can narrow down your searches using the information that you know about the person that you are looking for. The key information that will make your search results better includes that person’s full name, city, e-mail, nickname, etc.

Of course, the best way to find someone is definitely through Facebook, so log into your account to avoid additional work.
