How To See How Many Hours Played On PS4

You might want to show off how dedicated you are to a certain game to your friends. Or perhaps you feel like totaling up all your playtime to see (and maybe feel a bit guilty about) just how much of your life you have spent playing on you PlayStation 4.

Unfortunately, Sony doesn’t currently support this. While you can access your public PlayStation profile online via their My PlayStation website, this only tells you what trophies you have earned, how many friends you have, and what they’ve been up to. There’s no mention of time played.

You can manage what is shared on this activity feed by using the following steps:

  1. Go to your Sony Account, and log in.
  2. Click on PSN Privacy Settings.
  3. Click on Gaming | Media.
  4. To change who can view your activities, trophies, friends list, what games you own, and more, click on the Edit button next to the one you want to change.

Sign up for the PSN Newsletter

One way to sometimes receive info on the hours you have played in total is to sign up for the monthly PlayStation Network newsletter, which will send you regular emails with personalized information and special offers. This information sometimes, but not always, can include your gaming hours.

To sign up for the newsletter, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Go to your Sony Account, and log in.
  2. Click on Notification Settings
  3. Click on the tick box
  4. Click on the Save button

Wait Until the End of the Year

At the end of 2018, Sony offered PlayStation users a limited-time service that would inform them of their statistics for the last year. In the US it was called 2018 Wrap Up and in the EU they offered the similar My PS4 Life, both of which told you what games you had spent the most time on, along with other interesting info, in the form of an informative personalized video.

Sadly, as mentioned, this service was only available for around a month, but there’s a good chance that they will repeat that in the future. This is not an ideal solution if you’re in a rush to find out your time played right now, but it is better than nothing. If you’ve subscribed to the PSN newsletter, then you’ll likely be informed if this service, or something like it, comes around again.

Check Your Game Saves

This won’t necessarily work for every game that you own, but a lot of games record how long you have spent playing them on the save files. Other games may have a specific feature in the settings or options menus which tracks your playtime. Grand Theft Auto 5, for example, has a section in the settings menu the specifically tracks all of your statistics for that save.

This method won’t necessarily tell you all your time played across various saves, though, so you will have to do a little bit of math to find out your overall hours. And not all games support time tracking, so your mileage may vary.

Time Flies When You’re Having Fun

While it’s a shame that it’s not easier to find out exactly what your statistics directly from the source, it’s not so hard to understand why Sony shies away from making such potentially embarrassing information easy to get ahold of. After all, you don’t always need to know that you could have learned a new language in the time you’ve spent playing Final Fantasy.

If you’ve found a method for working out your PS4 game time that we’ve missed, please share it with us in the comments section below. And feel free to show off your hours. We promise we won’t judge!

Is there a way to see what time a person was playing ps4 on a certain date? For instance could I see if Bob was playing his ps4 at 1 am on August 2,2018?
