Have you considered doing a bit of self-promotion on Instagram? Nowadays, it’s incredibly easy. All you need to do is share your Instagram posts to your story. interestingly enough, Instagram was only originally testing the feature, and a select group of users got to use it. But since the feature was so well-received, it was added to everyone’s feed on Instagram. If you’d like to learn how to share your IG posts to your story, and some additional tips and tricks keep reading.
Getting Started The posts-to-story reshare option is now an essential feature on Instagram. All you need is the Instagram app for Android or iOS, depending on the device you’re using. Make sure to use the provided links to update the app to the latest version.
What’s great about this feature is that now the original poster gets adequately credited. Before, you could only see the poster’s IG username near the bottom of the post, but now the link in your story is interactive.
This means that anyone who views your story and clicks on the embedded link gets redirected to the original post by the person who first uploaded it. Why is this important? Well, imagine creating some quality content, no matter what it is (crisp landscape image, a funny joke, or even a song) and not being credited for it.
Not sure about you, but I’m pretty mad when someone steals my jokes and acts as if they came up with them first. The same can apply to any other type of content on Instagram. Using other people’s content is only fair if you credit the author (or poster).
Of course, if you want to share your posts, it’s pretty apparent who the poster was.
Sharing Instagram Posts to Stories There’s just one thing left for you to know before sharing your Instagram posts to your story. To freely share posts, and let others share your posts, make sure that your profile settings allow it. Here’s how to enable story resharing:
Log into Instagram. Go to your profile (bottom-right corner of the screen). Tap on the hamburger menu and select Settings near the bottom of your screen. Then, tap on Privacy. Next, tap on Story. Scroll down and make sure that Allow Resharing to Stories is enabled. After these steps, you can finally share your post to your story on Instagram:
Start Instagram on your device. Go to your profile and enter a post you’d like to share. Tap the Share option (looks like a folded paper airplane). Tap on Add Post to Your Story. Feel free to edit the post if you want to; this is optional. Press the Send To and tap on Share next to Your Story. Although this was a guide for sharing your posts to your Instagram story, note that you can do the same with posts from other people. Just go to their profile, choose a post they’ve made, and follow the same steps as before.
If the share button below their posts appears as gray, and you can’t select it, this means that the Instagram user you’re trying to reshare has blocked this option.
Parting Advice Now you know how to share anyone’s post on Instagram to your story. Like we said, free to edit the posts to your liking. You can add all kinds of effects, text, filters; you have the same options as to when posting a regular Instagram story.
We leave that part up to you and your creativity. If you’re resharing posts from others, don’t worry, they’ll be credited and likely won’t mind. In case they do mind people reposting their stuff, they can easily disable this feature.
