How to Get the Temperature Filter in Snapchat

Are you having trouble finding the temperature filter on Snapchat? Have you wondered why there are so many online videos and articles about this feature? Ultimately, it’s because the temperature filter has now become a sticker. That’s right. The temperature and battery filters have been moved over to the sticker bank. The change occurred because Snapchat users wanted to be able to move around and resize their temperature and battery graphics.

If this is something you’d like to do yourself, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. Read on to find out how to get the temperature filter on Snapchat.

Create an Image and Add a Sticker

To create an image or add a sticker, follow the steps below:

  1. Open up your Snapchat app using the yellow icon, and log in, if you haven’t done so already.
  2. Take your photograph using the capture button, or record a video if you so wish.
  3. Tap the sticker icon on the right.

  4. When you get to the sticker feature, you’ll see a star shaped icon. You need to tap this in order to find the temperature sticker. The feature uses the ambient temperature as recorded by your phone. If your phone can’t record the ambient temperature, then one of two things happens. Either the temperature filter and sticker are missing completely, or you’re able to adjust the temperature sticker to say what you want.
  5. Tap the star icon and look for the temperature sticker – it’s the one with a number and then the degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius symbol next to it.

And that’s it. All done!

Finding the Temperature Sticker

Scroll down the stickers to find the number with the degrees symbol next to it. If you can’t find it, then your phone may not support the temperature setting on Snapchat. The beta version of Snapchat on Android doesn’t have the temperature sticker. If you’re using the beta version, then go to the Google Play store, find the Snapchat app, and opt out of the beta test.

Your phone has its own series of sensors, from gyroscopic, altitude and speed. However, temperature isn’t always something that your hardware can detect. The information you’re seeing may be collected from online data sources. After all, if it were just your phone doing the temperature measuring, then wouldn’t it be warmed by the heat of your hand?

You Can Move the Temperature Around

The temperature is just another sticker, so you can move it around the screen and manipulate it the same way you can with other stickers. For example, you can pinch your fingers together on the sticker to make it shrink, and move your fingers outwards to make it grow. When you’re done, tap the blue arrow icon in the bottom right. Select the people you want to send your image to, and then confirm again to send.

Does Snapchat Have a Usability Issue?

Have you read all the way down to this point? If that’s the case, doesn’t it almost prove that Snapchat has a usability issue? Give the app to a newbie, even a newbie used to using Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, and they’ll struggle to understand the interface and how things work.

The same is true of the tips listed in this article. After all, if the temperature and battery graphics were so easy to find, why do people need to look online in order to find them? It is not a criticism of the user per se, it is a criticism of the Snapchat interface and the fact that it could be a lot more intuitive.

How Often Do You Use the Temperature Feature?

The temperature filter is moved over to the stickers section, and suddenly a bunch of online articles appear explaining where to find the sticker. But, is the temperature feature really that popular?

There are many Smartphones with no temperature measuring features at all, yet they’re able to tell you what temperature it is. They do this through licensing deals with NYSE: SNAP. The fact Snapchat is willing to pay millions for this service means the temperature feature must be important.

What do you think? Is Snapchat easy to use? How often do you use the temperature sticker? Let us know in the comments section below.
