How to Tell if Someone Added You Back on Snapchat

Not knowing if someone responded to your friend request can be quite frustrating. Due to the way that Snapchat works, things can become even more frustrating because the developers haven’t offered a simple route for users to follow and find out this information.

There are two tricks that almost always work, given the right set of conditions. Keep reading if you want to find out how to tell if someone added you back on Snapchat, if they can’t, or if they don’t want to anymore.

Check the Friends List

One of the easiest ways to find out if someone responded in kind and added you as a friend on Snapchat is to check your friends list. Until someone adds you back, they won’t appear on your friends list, even if you’ve sent a request already.

  1. Log into your Snapchat account.
  2. Tap on the chat bubble icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  3. Alternatively, you can swipe right on your profile page to bring up the Friends list.
  4. Search for the username you want to verify.

Check Snapscore

Snapchat’s Snapscore is a very interesting feature. Some people try to improve their Snapscore as if they’re competing in a professional tournament. Others see it as a gimmick while some see it as a useless feature with a complicated algorithm that doesn’t indicate anything of use to the user.

Regardless of which camp you belong to, if you want to see who added you back on Snapchat, you can check the person’s Snapscore to find out. A user’s Snapscore is usually only visible to users in his friend’s list. Here’s how to check the Snapscore:

  1. Bring up your Snapchat profile page.
  2. Tap the search box.
  3. Type in the username you want to check.
  4. Tap and hold on the username once found.
  5. Check to see if the Snapscore is visible.

Reasons Why Someone Might Not Add You Back

There are a number of reasons why someone might refuse to respond to a friend request. Maybe the other person doesn’t like your content, maybe they’ve blocked you by accident, or maybe they just haven’t seen it.

Either way, not knowing can be frustrating or at least confusing.

Expired Request

It’s important to remember that all friend requests on Snapchat expire after 48 hours. Unlike with friend requests sent on Facebook, Snapchat users have a very limited time to respond to requests. It may be a good idea to send a request again after two days and wait for another two days to see what happens.

Blocked Profile

Another reason why someone might not have friended you back is if that person has added you to their Blocked contacts list. But how can you tell if someone has blocked you? You can check to see if you can send them a new request.

If a user blocks you, you won’t be able to add them to your friend’s list. If you were able to send a new request before but not anymore, then the chances are the user declined your request and blocked your profile.

  1. Go to your Snapchat profile page.
  2. Tap the search box.
  3. Type in the username you want to check.
  4. Tap and hold on the name.
  5. Check whether the Add Friend button is available.

Why You Can’t Find out Your Friendship Status via Mutual Friends

Snapchat is built with a lot more privacy in mind than other social media platforms. While many allow you to sift through other users’ friends lists and mutual friends lists, Snapchat doesn’t allow this.

In fact, even when you get Quick Add suggestions, you will notice that you can’t see any names indicating who your mutual friends are.

Snapchat – Overly Complicated or Just Very Private?

Some have said that Snapchat is overly complicated when it comes to the little things. Others argue that it offers some privacy features that we’re just not used to having, due to how other platforms operate. Let us know if the tips in this article proved useful and also share with your thoughts on how hard or easy you find Snapchat’s navigation and interface.
