Steam Summer Sale 2014

Valve’s digital content store kicked off its annual Steam Summer Sale this afternoon, offering a rotating selection of games for up to 80 percent off until June 30th. As with previous Steam sales, up to nine games will be offered at a discounted price each day, with an additional four games rotating every 8 hours. Steam is also continuing its community voting option with the Community Choice sale, in which gamers vote on one of two game packages to go on sale in the following round.

Those active in the Steam community will also be able to collect trading cards which can be converted into profile badges and unique account attributes such as emoticons, profile backgrounds, and avatars. Gamers hoping to catch a particular game at a discount can add the game to their account wishlist, and Steam will notify members by email if and when wishlisted games go on sale. The full details of the Steam Summer Sale can be found in the company’s FAQ.

The majority of Steam’s catalog covers Windows games, but the service also features a decent selection of games for OS X and Linux.
