Swappa Review: Best for Swappa ESN Check

Swappa.com is a marketplace for buying and selling gently used Apple & Android mobile devices including iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2 just to name a few. It also allows you to buy and sell Apple iPads such as the iPad Air, iPad Mini with Retina Display and iPad 2. Only fully functional, ready to activate mobile devices are allowed to be sold (no phones with bad ESNs, water damage or cracked screens). All devices are required to go through an ESN check or IMEI check by Swappa. This is to make sure that all devices sold on Swappa are legally allowed to be sold to another person.
Ben Edwards launched Swappa in 2010 and in 2013 Swappa had over $7,000,000 worth of used mobile devices sold on the Swappa platform. (Click here for Free IMEI Check & ESN Check)

Swappa has created a third party market that allows users to inspect their mobile phone, lets the buyer and seller communicate in a moderated yet private forum, and make sure the deal goes down smooth for both parties. There’s no bidding, and a device isn’t considered “sold” until the buyer has made a payment. A listing’s price includes shipping costs and other fees.

Creating a listing takes about ten minutes from start to finish. The process includes a ESN check or IMEI check by Swappa. Swappa.com also maintains a database of just about every Apple & Android cell phone out there, so there’s no reason to hunt for system specs or photos. You simply choose your device, and Swappa provides a stock photo and specifications. Sellers can also attach their own photos of their device if necessary. There are the typical fields for description, condition and included accessories, but sellers can also check boxes that tell a potential buyer what version of the operating system the phone is running.

When you have a question about a phone it gets asked in forum that is recorded on the site, but only seen by the buyer, the seller, and the admins. This way, if the phone you get isn’t quiet the way it was described, a Swappa admin can get involved and resolve any potential dispute with all of the information available to them.

Buyers can ask the seller questions via a public threaded comment system, and sellers are alerted to activity via email.

Once the purchase has been made, the buyer and seller can use a private version of these comments to communicate the details of the sale.

Sellers agree to a $10 sale fee, payable when the device sells.

Overall Swappa is a great site for specifically selling your Apple or Android cell phone. There is also a similar company called Glyde that another option when selling your devices that also includes tables such as iPads as well. If for nothing else. Swappa is a great place to have your iPhone or iPad’s go through an ESN check or IMEI check to make sure it’s all clear.
