How to Tell Why You Were Banned From Tinder

Tinder is one of the most popular dating apps, and millions of people all over the world use it daily. It’s a great place to meet new people, especially if you’re new in town. The app sustains that its priority is to maintain the safety of its users. That’s why they came with some new rules in the previous years.

It’s important to carefully read rules and guidelines before you start using this app. In this article, we’ll explain the most common reasons why people get banned.

You Got Banned – Find Out Why

Bans on Tinder are permanent, and once banned, you won’t be able to access your account. Therefore, the only way to find out the reason is to contact Tinder support. Send them an e-mail and ask for an explanation.

However, there’s no official way to appeal or a mechanism to revoke a ban. Now, let’s take a look at some of the most common things that can earn you a permanent ban.

how to tell why you were banned

Community Guidelines

Tinder has a list of things that are considered unacceptable, and its safety standards are pretty high. The platform encourages its users to report any inappropriate behavior. You should bear in mind that those rules apply both to online and offline communication.

Bad Behavior on a Date

If you go on a date with someone you met through the app and do something that they consider inappropriate, that person can report you to Tinder. Here’s a list of things that are not allowed, and that may earn you a ban.

Nude Photos

Tinder is not a business network, and you don’t need to post a photo in your suit. You can dress casually, but you do have to follow some rules. It’s not allowed to post pictures that contain nudity or explicit content. Someone may report you, and your account could be banned forever.

Violence

We want to remind you that violence is strictly prohibited, both in online and offline communication. It’s also forbidden to publish violent content or disturbing images on your profile. When it comes to offline meetings, this applies to any behavior that may harm or assault the other person.

Insults

Many users state that verbal harassment is more common than physical abuse. However, that doesn’t make it more tolerable. It’s prohibited to insult, threaten, or bully other users. That applies to other creepy behaviors as well. For example, stalking and pretending that you’re someone else is also prohibited.

Sharing Private Information

Sharing sensitive information may get you into trouble. You’re not allowed to publicly share things like your social security number, your passport number, or your address. Of course, it’s even worse if you publish someone else’s private information to threaten their safety.

Tinder isn’t the right place to promote and advertise your business. There’re other platforms where you can do that. If you use your profile for advertising your services, events, or maybe a political campaign, the other users may report you as spam. That usually leads to Tinder deleting your profile.

Prostitution and Human Trafficking

Tinder is a platform that genuinely connects persons who are searching for love or a date. It’s not allowed to offer sexual services in exchange for money. Even worse if you’re promoting human trafficking or abuse of any kind. Your account will immediately be banned.

Fraudulent Behavior

In the past, some people used Tinder to gather private information from other users that they later used for fraudulent activity. That’s strictly prohibited as Tinder wants its users to be safe from scammers.

If the platform notes that you’re sharing your financial account with other users, it may suspect that you’re a scammer and that you’re using Tinder to fraud people. Your account will probably be banned.

Hate Speech

Tinder is a platform where everyone is safe and equal. There’s no space for hatred, racism, or sexism. If you offend or speak against someone based on their ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar factors, your profile will be banned. Tinder has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to hate speech and discrimination.

Parody Accounts

You’ve probably heard stories about people whose profiles got banned because they were posting pictures of celebrities. Tinder doesn’t allow impersonation, and you can’t pretend that you’re someone else and use their photos.

You might think that this is different. Your intention certainly wasn’t to lead someone to believe that you’re Brad Pitt. You posted his photo just for fun. However, this’s not allowed, and the ban hammer might smite your account.

Posting Photos of Children

Although it’s not a good idea to post photos of minors, there’s a way to do it if you want. If you’re a proud mum or dad, you can post a picture of you with your kids. However, it’s not allowed to post photos of children alone, and other users are encouraged to report that kind of photos.

So if you want to post a photo of your kids, make sure that you’re in the picture as well.

Mutual Account

It’s prohibited to create an account that’ll have more owners. If you’ve created an account together with your best friend because you’re on vacation and want to meet new friends (without sexual connotation), unfortunately, that’s not allowed. One account can have only one user. Also, you’re not allowed to have multiple accounts.

Inactive Account

Last but not least, Tinder may ban your account due to inactivity. The app needs to stay updated, and that’s why they occasionally delete inactive users. It happens if you haven’t entered your account for a long time, around two years. When you try to log in after an extended period, you may be unpleasantly surprised.

Tinder Is Great When You Respect Rules

Tinder is an app with a great concept, and it can be useful. It has strict safety rules because it wants to keep the environment a safe place where you can have fun and meet new people. If you want to use Tinder, obeying those rules is mandatory.

Do you agree with the rules? Is there anything that you don’t like about them? We’d love to hear your experience in the comments section below.

Karyn says:
Today I signed up using my laptop (mac). Couldn’t get the browser to unblock location, so I downloaded the app on my phone and tried again there. First time I tried to open the app using the same sign in credentials, it said I was banned for violating terms and conditions. How can I violate the terms and conditions when I can’t even sign in for the first time? There is, of course, no way to appeal. Whatever. Crap app.
Tammy says:
I have never signed up for tinder until recently and it said I was banned ! How can I find out the date I was banned because it was not me doing that
Raymond Hurles says:
what do we do if we get banned and cant get back in, i was really getting deep with someone too, now tinder corrupted that with their corruption
Kathleen Krieger says:
I have never used tinder in any shape or form I have been raped from a person on tinder I have been abused from people on tinder I have been scammed by people on tinder I don’t understand why I am being banned from it I have followed all rules you have people on here that I know that are scammers because they have scammed me before but yet they’re still on there I would like to have an explanation this is so unfair
Chewy Catino says:
I have been banned from Tinder for no reason, I have also been tried to be scammed, but people will if they don’t like you will report you for no reason!
David says:
Also got banned with no explanation when I havent violated any of the rule or had any conflict with anyone, never sent any inappropriate messages, never even had any conflict with anybody I was dating that could possibly lead anybody to report me, on good terms with all my ex-partners. I have a friend who was sexually assaulted 2 years ago, and the man who assaulted her has a partner with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, who has spent the last two years harassing & targeting the friend who was assaulted, and also targeting me for supporting her. It seems possible either this person, or somebody connected to them, has gone onto Tinder and Hinge to report my profile. That is the only reason I can imagine that someone might have tried to report my account. It is bizarre, because I also have friends who have reported people on Tinder for assault/harassment offline, and been told by Tinder that they would not do anything about it unless there was a police report. Tinder doesn’t care about those issues when they really happen, but they apparently make it easy for their bad processes to be used as a tool by abusers.
Greg says:
My account is still under review and I have not done anything to violate the terms of service
Jo says:
I was banned during the first time I signed up. The only reason I can think of is that someone else had my phone number at one time and it was recycled to me. I sent them an emaii and now waiting on a response. This is the very fisrt time I EVER tried to sign up for a dating app so I have no idea why this happened.
Rachelle says:
Ditto. I was banned within minutes of signing up. I didn’t do anything. I don’t understand it.
Alex says:
Got banned off hinge, then bumble then tinder all within a month of each other. No explanation given. When asked for answers been told with a generic email saying I violated the terms and conditions but they won’t say what. Bumble sent an email saying they’d already responded to my issue when they actually didn’t. All 3 said your ban is permanent and there is no appeal. I’ve broken none of these terms and conditions and like the rest of the people on here cant help but suspect a previous date who’s been stalking me since I broke up with her is at the centre of this. Infact I reported anyone else who broke these terms and conditions like prostitutes and people trying to sell me stuff. All 3 of my profiles were also verified
Vinny says:
Got banned today after trying to verify my profile so I can send a youtube link to a Nirvana song …. I might look kinda creepy and in one of my short clips I was hitting my bong. Must of been it…
Paul says:
Test?
Paul says:
Has anyone actually received a real reason from Tinder on being banned? I was banned for zero reason today. I got the same generic email when I asked why.
mariska says:
Also banned for no reason.
I am spamming them via email in a normal way to get an answer why.
Also via twitter. Because NO this is not how you treat people.
Paul says:
Likewise I got banned and it says I violated their terms of use.
I’m completely confused I’ve never sent inappropriate messages or anything.
Tinder wont tell me what I’m supposed to have done.
I’m separated di maybe my ex and her friends mass reported me or something
Michael Forte Jr says:
Banned without a clue? Probably my ex somehow. Oh, I know her.
Nico says:
I got banned for no reason im so confused
Tj says:
Doesn’t seem fair that Tinder bans your account without saying why or a chance to appeal the decision. This needs to change.
Tj says:
Seems fair that Tinder lets you know why they banned your account. That there is no appeal process lets someone who doesn’t like you to make up false accusations. This should be changed
howie says:
I haven’t even used Tinder for several months. I think my phone number was associated with google voice by a hacker… they must have screwed up my tinder.
Steven Wilson says:
got banned today for no obvious reason
Edward says:
I never broke any of the rules stated.
But got banned without explanation.
Leaha says:
Same here. Just found out today. looking for a reason.
Tj says:
Banned today no reason. Can’t find a way to find out why. This isn’t fair or right.
