How to Connect Your Toshiba TV to Wi-Fi

Whether you’re streaming your favorite show or watching a live football game, a reliable internet connection is essential.

Discover how to connect your Toshiba TV to Wi-Fi and more than that, how to make sure you never experience any connection issues.

Connecting Your Toshiba TV to Internet

What could be better than sitting back, turning on your Toshiba TV, and watching some Netflix or YouTube videos?

But before choosing your favorite online content, you need to connect your TV to the internet. You have two options, the wireless connection or wired connection. We’re going to guide you through the steps for both.

Wi-Fi Connection

Most people choose to connect their smart TVs to Wi-Fi since it’s a much simpler process. Your Toshiba TV will connect to your wireless in no time if you follow these steps:

  1. On your remote controller, press the “Home” button.
  2. Navigate to “Settings” on your Toshiba TV screen.
  3. Then with the right arrow button on your remote, navigate to the “Network” option.
  4. Highlight the “Network Type” option with your remote and then select “Wireless Device.”
  5. Select your home network, and you’ll be prompted to type in your password. Navigate with your remote on the on-screen keyboard.
  6. Then press “OK” on your Toshiba remote.
  7. If successful, you’ll see “Connected” at the bottom right on the screen.

Entering a password using the on-screen keyboard can sometimes be tricky. Don’t be alarmed if you see the “Authorization failed” message at the top left corner of the screen. This just means that you should go back and re-enter the password.

Wired Connection

Wired connection is perhaps not the most common way to connect your Smart TV to the internet nowadays. However, an Ethernet connection often provides more stable and stronger connectivity.

And that’s especially important when it comes to streaming. So, to wire your Toshiba TV directly to the net, follow these steps:

  1. Connect one end of your Ethernet cable to your router. And the other to the Ethernet port on your Toshiba TV.
  2. Follow steps 1-3 from the above section.
  3. Under “Network Type” select “Wired Device.”

You may not need to enter your password, and you’ll see the “Connected” status on your screen in seconds.

Troubleshooting Toshiba TV Internet Connectivity

If you followed the steps listed above, your Toshiba TV should be online in a matter of minutes. However, sometimes when using the wireless connection, your device simply won’t connect to the internet no matter how many times you try.

The first thing you should do in this case is to make sure that your internet connection is working correctly. You can check with another device, like a computer or cellphone.

And even if it’s working, it’s probably a good idea to reset your router before you try to connect the TV to Wi-Fi again.

Just unplug the router for a couple of minutes and plug it back in. Wait a few minutes and then try connecting your TV to the Wi-Fi again. But if the issue isn’t an internet connection, you can try two approaches.

Pro Tip: If your router is too far from the TV, that could be the issue too. So, make sure that the router is at a good location and that there’s a fairly clear path to the signal.

Reset Your Toshiba TV

To reset your Toshiba TV, locate the Power button on the device. Press it and hold it for 5-9 seconds and then release it.

This should do the trick. You can also try unplugging the TV from the outlet too for at least 2-3 minutes. Then try connecting it to the Wi-Fi again.

Perform Factory Reset

Factory Reset is no one’s favorite solution when it comes to smart devices. But it’s often the most effective. Sure, performing a factory reset on your Toshiba TV will wipe out any settings and customizations you have set at the moment. But it might also solve the connection problem. So, here’s how you do it:

  1. Grab your remote and press the “Home” button.
  2. Navigate to “Settings” with arrow buttons on the remote and then select “Device & Software.”
  3. Select “Reset to Factory Default.”

This might take a while, but after it’s done you’ll get a fresh start with your Toshiba TV. And you can repeat the steps that will connect to your home network.

Connect and Stay Connected to the Internet on Your Toshiba TV

Most smart TVs have similar connectivity protocols. And most of them have related issues too. The same applies to Toshiba TV as well. Whether you choose wired or wireless connection, the steps are pretty straightforward and quick.

But if you run into issues, remember that it could be that your connection is weak or that it’s a bug with the TV. Either way, you can try some of the solutions outlined above to get your TV back online.
