How to Tell if Someone Unfollowed or Removed You as a Friend on Snapchat

Snapchat is a unique messaging app if you can call it that. It is probably one of the most entertaining apps to use with your friends. At the same time, it is one of the sneakiest apps because most of the stuff that you share with your friends gets deleted in a matter of seconds.

That is a well-known fact, but what about your friends and followers? You don’t get a notification when somebody removes you from their friend list or unfollows you on Snapchat. People can do this without you ever finding out.

That is unless you read this article and find out how to tell if this has happened.

Snapchat Friends Explained

Snapchat is confusing to a lot of people, especially to its new users. You should know that friend and follower lists on Snapchat don’t work the same way they do on other social media, like Instagram and Facebook.

When you add a person to your friend list on Snapchat, they will be a part of it right away. It means that you will see them on your friend list even if they don’t accept your request. That fact is the root of all confusion revolving around Snapchat friends or followers.

There is a way to figure out if someone is currently your friend on Snapchat or not. In fact, there are multiple ways, and they are all quite easy.

How to Find Out If Your Snapchat Friends/Followers Removed You

First, you can start by sending your Snapchat friend or follower a message.

If you can’t, this means that they either haven’t accepted your follow request in the first place, or they have removed you from their followers or friends. Also, you can try viewing their Snapchat story (24-hour Snap that disappears, similar to the Instagram story).

If you can’t even view the Snapchat Story of your friend, it means that they have removed you, or haven’t even accepted your request. Not many people post Snapchat Stories regularly, so this method is not often useful.

There is a better, more reliable way of checking if someone is your friend or follower on Snapchat or not. The answer lies in the Snapchat score. This score represents the number of Snaps you two shared throughout your Snapchat friendship.

How to Check the Snapchat Score

Snapchat score is the most reliable indicator of Snapchat following or friendships. If you can’t view this score, you can conclude that this person is not your friend or follower. Checking the Snapchat score is easy.

Follow these steps to check the Snapchat score between you and another user:

  1. Open Snapchat on your Android or iOS Make sure to use the links provided to update the app to the latest version if you haven’t done that already.
  2. Go to your friend’s or follower’s profile.
  3. There should be a number next to their Snapchat name, and this is the Snapchat score you have with that person.
  4. You can also share your location and request your friend’s location if you two are still friends or following each other.

What Does It Mean?

If you can’t see any numbers next to a person’s Snapchat name, it means that you don’t have a Snapchat score, they removed you. Also, you won’t be able to request their location or share your location with them. This person will still be marked as your friend on your Snapchat friend list for some reason.

Sometimes, it might indicate that a person has deactivated their Snapchat account, and they might return later. So, you shouldn’t jump to conclusions and attack your friend if you think they deleted you on Snapchat.

Maybe ask them in person or using another messaging app about their Snapchat profile. Finally, there is one more thing that you can do. Look at the Subscriptions tab in your Snapchat Stories, instead of looking at the Friends tab.

If this person appears here instead of on the Friends menu, it means that they are not following you back anymore, or they never were.

Time to Move On

Getting upset over friendships on Snapchat is not worth it unless a person is your real-life friend. Otherwise, this shouldn’t affect you because online friendships are usually superficial and unsustainable.

That doesn’t have to be true, but it is in most cases. You can easily find more friends or followers on Snapchat, and this person is probably not worth your time if they decided to unfollow or delete you from their friend list.
