How to use Incense to Catch More Pokemon in Pokémon Go

Pokemon Go using incense

We have already taught you how to get more coins in Pokémon Go. Are you also having a hard time catching Pokémon in Pokémon Go? There are actually ways to get them to come to you, so you don’t have to work so hard to get out there and catch them yourself. We’re going to tell you a trick that’ll lure in those Pokémon. All you’ve got to do is be a good shot with a Pokeball to catch them once they arrive.

Let just get right down to it.

An incense emits a scent that attracts Pokémon to your location. The incense lure lasts for thirty minutes. Unbeknownst to us, we used an incense just yesterday so we could lure in and catch more Pokémon, only to find out we were almost out of Pokeballs—what a total waste. The Pokémon were showing up very frequently, but you can’t catch them if you don’t have enough Pokeballs. Be sure to check your supply of Pokeballs before you use the incense to reel them in! You can use incense anywhere—you don’t have to be at a designated location. When you use incense, a pink, mist-like cloud surrounds your character and you’ll see a timer on your mobile device’s display, telling you how much time you have left before the incense wears off.

Using Incense

Here’s the low-down on how to use a Pokémon Go incense to lure in those unsuspecting creatures.

  • Tap the Pokeball in the bottom middle of your screen.                                                                                      Pokemon Menu
  • Then, tap on the backpack icon where it says “Items.”                                                                                          Pokemon items
  • Once you’re in your items backpack screen, scroll down and tap on “Incense.”                                               Pokemon Go items
  • Next, the incense will float out onto your display; tap again to use it. Tap the “X” to cancel using your incense.           Pokemon incense

Be ready—the Pokémon are going to start coming in fast and furious. Okay, maybe not so much furious, but quickly—so stand by to catch them. Don’t put an incense out to lure Pokémon and then go away from your device; remember, it’s on a timer and you’ll have thirty minutes until the incense dies out. Make sure you have enough of both time and Pokeballs on hand.

Where Can You Get Incense?

The game automatically gives you two incense to begin with, which are found in your backpack. To get to your backpack, tap the Pokeball in the bottom middle of your screen. Then, tap on the backpack icon where it says “Items.” You can always purchase more incense through the Pokémon Go store as well, but you need Pokémon Go coins for that. Personally, we wouldn’t use our coins for buying incense because you’ll receive more throughout the gameplay as your character levels up.

That about sums it up. Incense can help you catch more Pokémon, which can be helpful if you’re not in a position or location where you’re able to get up and stroll around to hunt them down. As with anything, though, use your Pokémon Go incense wisely. Good luck, and happy Pokémon collecting! (Note: Once you collect all those new Pokémon, use your new Pokémon to go to battle!)
